JCW Air Filter Box Issue

Recently purchased a R53 JCW Mini and all 4- vacuum line rubber elbows are split , needing replacement . These control the flapper door operation and BMW/Mini sell these as 3-separate assemblies @ $ 55.00 each and wanted to know if anyone has a cheaper source for these elbows ? Thanks…

Thanks for the response on these parts but, the 3- assemblies would be $165.00 and I thought there was a more cost friendly alternative… If not I will have to bite the bullet

Unless you're a purist and want your vehicle to be as delivered, may I suggest that those parts are really extraneous. Most of us disconnect the vacuum line and perform the "Flapectomy", propping the flap in the open position

Thinking about plugging the vacuum supply line to JCW air filter top and de- flapping

This is what it looks like, short hard vacuum line with two ends. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...75#13717558378

All the vacuum lines:

Yes the system would open the flap under certain RPMs. Yep 18 and 19 are the sound plates.

On the old JCW tuning sound kit (Cooper) i have it has a little filter that goes towards the cabin so you can hear the engine all the time.

ECS Tuning is always helpful on these problems. Thanks again…

Does having the flap open expose the filter to rain/ car wash water? It’s right under the grills behind the bonnet. Mine is still stock like most of the car. Inquiring minds…

The Flap opens under Boost, but when you add the JCW Filter Box there is a hole that passes through the Driver Side Air Vent, this allows more cold air into the filter box, water intake isn't an issue as long as you don't try fording deep water e.g. over the hood where it can flood the air intake faster than the drain hole can drain it out) I haven't found a Car Wash that can dump enough water into that area fast enough to flood the air intake.

+1 its on the back side and unless you go into high water you should be ok.

If you drive into water that high, you have far more problems than a wet air filter, namely, a hydro-locked engine, not to mention the threat of drowning!

Including all the electronics & sensors that don’t do well in a wet environment…

Figured out the JCW Airbox flapper door elbows , Dorman sells a 4-piece kit utilizing 1/8” x 5/32nd elbows (41431); which took 2-packs and also replaced the 1/8” hard plastic lines (47417). Total cost was 2-kits @ $8 each for elbows & 1-kit @ $9 each for tubing versus the OEM 3-lines @ $55 each from Mini/BMW …
