Stainless strip?

I’ve found some info on the chrome beltline blackout stuff but the finish is wearing on portions of the roof strip. Does anyone have a remedy for this? I’m not sure what finish is on there as it doesn’t really look like paint. It looks textured but maybe that’s years of sun.

Any info would be helpful.

I don't know for sure what the textured coating is but if the peeling "paint" is really an annoying eyesore to the appearance of your Mini, the trim can be replaced.
You can probably purchase them from some of the trusted vendors on this site.

Although I haven't tested it to try - *may work if you are a DIYer

When my roofline trim started peeling/deteriorating as yours have; the rubber seal was still in great shape. In my case; I kind of liked the compliment of stainless steel as it also complimented my chrome beltline.
I rubber wheeled off the rest of the peeling black "paint"/texture. I personally like the look of it as it goes with the rest of my chrome against the black roof and the Dark Silver Metallic of my Mini.

...but then again - that's just me.

Maybe you mentioned it and I had forgotten, but I could swear I never noticed the bright roof trim on your mini, @Here2Go . I dig it.

Thanks.
I think this is the first time I've ever mentioned removing the black from my roof trim.
I did it about twelve years ago.
Luckily my rubber seal is still holding up.

What rubber wheel did you use?

I'm sorry - it was so long ago I don't remember.
It was just some random rubber drill attachment wheel I had in my tool box. All I can recall is that it was a pretty stiff medium/high durometer and its color being orange (?). Maybe just a fluke?
But it just seemed to work surprisingly well.

EDIT: BTW - I think I also improvised removing/scraping off some of the flaking areas with a plastic trim removal tool of some sort in addition to using the wheel on my power drill..
