Yes I admit it, I do not want to drive my MINI:eek::eek2:. Nor do I want to put some damn cool mods on it either. I'm just afraid. I'm afraid that it I drive in the winter, up here in northern Indiana, that I will get it dirty and get salt and road grime all over it, ooh just the thought makes me cringe. My MINI could also be alot cooler than what it really is, but I'm afraid to mod it out, strickly engine and performance, that it will change the relationship I have with it and the personality of it.
Did anybody else go through this??
Am I beyond help??

CCS, just remember that IF you want to sell your baby, stock will be easier to market than modded. Having said that, I have a K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake on Wanda, and will most likely do the 15% pulley and UniChip mods at the Dragon.:lol: Well, Ryephile and The Chad of Detroit Tuning will do it! :thumbsup:

If you are that afraid, then you need to take drastic action. First off send the MINI to me here in Avon, IN. It is not that far away so you can come down and see it when the urge hits. Keep making the payments and I will see that your MINI is properly driven and exercised.

MINIs are like kids, they love to play and this means that they will get dirty. Though unlike kids, MINIs don't gripe and whine about having to take a bath!

Not a problem...scrape up a few extra bucks for daily transport and keep your Mini at home:thumbsup: I get crap from my club members all the time for not even driving my Mini in the rain:eek2: :lol: Here...here...have another drink:lol:

:lol: But the MINI loves the rain...it's British for gosh sakes! They are wonderful in all types of weather. Don't miss out on fun out of fearfulness! Get out there and motor, baby!:grin:

Any Mods you guys would suggest that my dealer wouldn't get po about besides JCW Parts? What is a 19% Pulley?

I was afraid of my mini when I first got it. Granted, it was because I couldn't drive a stick :roll: but I picked that up soon enough. I agree with you about the snowy salty roads.. it pains me to take mine out in winter. :sad: I'm working on a solution to that one too :wink:

I'm with MSFITOY, I bought a beater to drive daily and drive the MCS on the weekends if it's not raining or snowing.

Chili, you're in good company! :wink: A lot of us were a bit iffy when we first picked up our cars. I still won't park near anyone else. And I still have been the only one to drive it. Me only because I love my car so much I know how disappointed I would be if something happened I wasn't driving.

I won't mod it. The color has already been discontinued and I I have decided to leave it as is.

Take it out occasionally, be careful and soon you won't be able to do anything but drive your car! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Jus' drive it and get over the "new" thing. It's just a car, a current production car with plenty-o-parts out there. The first year brought me a new windshield, a rock hit to follow, two sweet door dings and a couple trips back to the dealer for warantee fixes. Shes not a virgin anymore. :cry:

Until the Smithsonian contacts me I'm relaxing. Too many owners are way over the top and should park 'em in the garage, put velvet ropes around the car and slide a mirror under the engine bay.

Winter offers nasty stuff but it's a car made for Euro conditions. With reasonable care for chem/salt concerns they clean up fine.

Repeat the following three times: It's just a car.

The MINI is a car.

Car's are meant to be driven.

When you drive the car, natural schmutz on the road gets the car dirty.

When the car gets dirty, you wash it!

Greetings, Ryan, from the old APRIL club. I made only a few mods to start with (actually bought most of the parts before I had the car), and none since... until now. The warranty is just about history anyway, and it will be time to change the SC belt soon, so I just ordered a pulley (17% helix) and a Remus exhaust too. Chip and injectors are not far behind. :grin: :grin: :grin: It'll be almost like getting a new car again.

My MINI is my first manual transmission car too! Picked it up yesterday in a snow storm I think we got somewhere around 8 - 10 inches :eek2: . Talk being scared to drive it home. We made it in one piece without any problems. I feel so much better, but boy it was hard to sleep last night. I kept wanted to get up and look at it.

I could not agree more; it may be a “great” car but it still a car. :smile: When mine gets here it’s going to get the hell driven out of it! :eek2:

When I got my 15% pulley and Alta cold air intake ,it was like re-experiencing the novelty of the car all over again.I had these mods done at 35000 miles ,so I really knew the car.This car is meant to be driven in all kinds of weather...

You're right; it's just a car......I drove a brand new Porsche 996 C4 for a while as my daily driver, including an Upstate NY winter with salty roads. You can miss out on a lot of fun by leaving it gargaed !! My current daily drive is an Audi S4. Once the spring arrives and the car is given some TLC it looks as good as new. Since I know I'm not going to keep any of my cars for ever, I'd rather drive them daily in all weather and have some fun.
