Solved!!! 05R50 CVT P0705: EP show up when shift to M/S then SES light on

I am writing this thread to share my experience on the trans issue on my 05 R50 CVT model.
Just to warn the community to avoid spending extra money on the bad diagnosis by the mechanics, or even the dealer.

The transmission Range sensor is not the start inhibit sensor!!!!!

I was driving home from Detroit, entering the highway.
There was a big hole in the dark corner during the ramp.
And yes! my Mini felt down. My hand suddenly pushed the shifter to M/S without noticing.
When I accelerated to catch up the free way speed, SES suddenly on.
PRND still work fine!!!

Went to the mechanics to push the OBDII into the car, it read P0705 "Transmission range sensor".
They cleared the SES light for me but did not fix anything.
I tried the M/S mode again and found out that there was nothing showed up on the indicator.
The light indicator near the shifter for M/S also did not light up.
When I shift it to the 2nd gear, then Bing GO... EP showed up on the indicator with SES light on.
Went to the mechanic to clear the SES again and seriously discussed about fixing it.

They qouted me for the "Start Inhibit Sensor" which is located at the back of the trans, $250 for the part and $500 for the labor.
I denied it and drove to the dealer. Asked for "transmission range sensor" and they ran my VIN on it.
They also showed my the part "Started Inhibit Sensor", and asked for $250.

I came back and searched for this issue on Google, especially this website.
Most of the posts also mention "Started Inhibit Sensor" for the similar trans issue.
Luckily, I found a post talking about the circuit board that located next to the shifter stick.
In the post, they discussed about the shorted/burned circuit on that board which leads to the same issue.
Since my PRND still work fine, I assume that I have the same problem.
Took out the board and found the spot that got fried by the shorted circuit.
Looked for the new OEM part for that board. Unfortunately, Mini does not provide it seperately.
They sell it together with the shifter assembly, $750 for the new part.
Looked for the used one on Ebay and got it around $100. I took off the board and replaced it in my car.
Problem solved.
Everything now goes smootly as before. I guess I can still sell the shifter assembly without the board for few bucks.

Good luck
