Hi all--

Finally! Brought Alfie home this afternoon... cranked disc 2 of Quadrophenia all the way home (about 40 miles) and hubby, following behind, said everyone on the road was rubbernecking-- what a blast!

Now I just have to get thru the break-in period, and figure out my system for dealing with the brake dust on the white wheels...

:roll: Oops... so much for my social skills in not properly RSVPing when I found out I wouldn't have Alfie in time for the SD run...my bad!

I had the same problem last week when I picked up Chilly Willy. I thought I was paranoid, but my husband confirmed that people were speeding to catch up with me and slowing down once they got there.

About the brake dust. I talked to the BMW Service Manager, and he suggested using wax on the rims, becasue they are painted. Anyway, he said the brake dust is less likely to stick to the waxed surface, and the dust that does stick can be easily wiped or rinsed off because of the slippery surface.

He also told me that the waxing will protect the rims from other road debris e.g. tar.

I'll give it a shot, but I thought I would share that.

Thanx for the advice...sounds basically logical to me. Tried wiping them today and it just made a bigger mess-- so I'm gonna give it a try.

Glad to know we aren't paranoid... they really are following us! I can see my car from my desk at work, and ended up going outside 3 times today to tell people about it. Maybe once I get used to being the center of attention I won't volunteer like that, but today I just couldn't resist! :grin:
