R50/53 The "Can't Wait for Feburary Club" arrives!
Just wanted an even number post #1100 I think!. I got approved for financing through MINI financing for 4.9 (basically matched my PeopleFirst rate). My dealer had a hard tmie accepting the PeopleFirst check so they went this route and gave me a nice rate instead.
DO NOT PUT any other charges on that card!!! they may hammer you with much higher interest. Doing same with my Visa - paid it off before I borowed money for my MCS. 1.99% is till july - after is 4.99 ( will move it somewhere else
Happy motoring>>

>>It's funny you mention Citibank and low credit card rates. I'm purchasing my MINI with my Citibank credit card at a fixed 1.99%!!!!
>>
>>Here's how: Citi sent me blank checks to use at my disposal, up to my credit limit (which is enough for an MC). Along with a $50 transfer fee, every month I just pay the minimum required plus the 1.99% The best part is, I can take as long as I want to pay at the fixed rate of 1.99%.....no increases or hidden charges. It sounds too good to be true so got it confirmed with Citibank customer service. WOW!!
>>
>>Although the credit card will be paid off in a few months, just wanted to make sure there was enough change for some MINI goodies.
>>OK, I've rambled enough. Got to take my Anti-MINIac pills

Just a quick hello to all of my FALSTAFF shipmates who join my dear BVLGARI on the dock in Port Bayonne, NJ hoping to get under cover soon at VPC. It was an exhausting trip across the pond, of course, our dears got no sleep since they were sipping champagne and chatting 'til all hours on the ship. I'm almost as tired & ready to regroup to get ready for the BIG DAY, whenever that may be. My best wishes to Wactuary, RUMINI, Foo and any others who had such a lovely journey. After unloading on Sunday, 2/9/03, should we expect to be cleared to go home in about 10 days? Ciao to all.

Thanks for the heads up, jcs.
I double checked the fine print and Citibank..it is fixed at 1.99% until its paid off.
But if they do throw in a monkey wrench, I'm still paying off the card in April.
When we pick up our MINI, I'll be walking out with the pink slip, then pay off the card couple of months later ( I hate car payments!!) Thanx again!

I also spoke to Amanda at ASKMINI.
Same news, still at the VPC and no date to ship out
I mentioned to her that a lot of MCO Club Feb'ers were anxiously awaiting their MINIs,....."OOOHHH!!..." she says and starts laughing

I think jcs's point was that if you put additional charges on the card, those additional charges will be charged a much higher interest rate AND will accumulate interest until you have the entire balance (including the Mini) paid off. However, as you stated, the Mini charges will still accumulate interest at the lower 1.99% rate. So, his advice is not to put any more charges on the card until the Mini charges are completely paid off.

Weird thing happened. I checked OL this morning and they have changed my EDD to 2-15 from 2-7. I thought the OL never changed the EDD? Anyone else noticing this?

Strange ... mine still says 1/31 ... but I think that is wrong

Been away on business and tied up in a major project at work the last few weeks. Lots of late nights and weekends spent at the office, so little time to chime in the the CWFFC club. The only good part of the extra work is it keeps me from thinking of how close I am to finally getting my Mini.
First, congrats to all the CWFFC members who have received their Minis. You have persevered through the sometimes unbareable wait and now I hope you have found it was well worth the wait. From the post-purchase comments and the photos of happy new Mini owners beside their car, it does indeed look like you lucky ones do feel the wait was well worth it. The rest of us are living vicariuosly through you. Again, congrats.
Since everyone is talking about financing right now, I guess I'll share my experience thus far. I have been checking out a lot of banks looking for a good fixed rate without being nickled and dimed. I cringe everytime the loan rep asks me what kind of car I am thinking of purchasing, because, without fail, upon mentioning "Mini Cooper," all I get is this blank look from them followed by a "Whuh?" I then have to go into my now very rehearsed description of the car and its history. While I am excited to get my Mini, I am actually exhausted from trying to explain the car to people. What I need is the car to show them.....but I guess that would be putting the cart before the horse. I guess the positive side is that, even though the car has been in North America for more than a year, it is still a pretty exclusive club of owners, and we're all sure to still get plenty of stares and pointing at our cars.
Jen at ASKMINI last night informed me that my car was loaded on a carrier sometime on 2/11 and was making its way to the Midwest. These last few days are the worse, because my Mini is so close that I can almost smell that new car smell.
Oh well. Back to the grind.

Mine showed 2/13 for a long time (prod. date of 1/17). Then switched to 2/10 late last week. The Mini is not yet here (according to the dealer as of yesterday afternoon). ASKMINI says it was put on a truck on Friday. Then, I check this morning and the OL and says it is at the dealer (still shows an est. delivery date of 2/10). The dealer said he'd call as soon as it arrived, but I am still waiting on that call.

Members of the Feb Club, I'm a recent graduate! We took delivery of our MCS last Saturday.
As you get down to the wire in the last couple of weeks, don't count on the Member's Lounge status to be overly accurate. In my case, the Member's Lounge info was always 2-4 days behind so ask your dealer for the current status. My dealer was great and kept me informed as we got closer.
This was the case from Awaiting Transport through En Route, At VDC and finally At your MINI Dealer. For example, I mentioned we picked up our MINI on Saturday. Well, it was just this morning (Wed) that the status changed to "At your MINI Dealer"... and we picked it up 4 days ago. Also, we took delivery 5 days before the Estimated Delivery Date.
Be patient, it's worth the wait!!! Good luck!!!

>>>>>>Has anyone found any particularly good offers? I've been surprised at how high most banks were, many in the 7-8% range. The best was Citibank offering 13%! I have credit cards with lower rates!
>>Wow! that is a low rate for a credit card. I thought my Cap. One card was good at 9%. Anyway, my dealer ran financing through BMW and I'm getting their best rate of 5.56%. Thought that sounded alright. Most banks are lending at somewhat higher rates for their auto loans. The home loan rates are running between 5 -6 %. So, I thought the MINI (BMW) rate sounded pretty good.
>>
I went through the AAA for my loan - got 4.39% for 48 months. They run it through a local (well, Southern MA) credit union. Not sure what the AAA does in other parts of the country...

Good Morning fellow CWFFC members. I just looked at the OL and it reports that my MINI is now at the VPC. According to ASK MINI it had already been cleared for transportation on Monday. The est. delivery date moved to 2-15, but I'm not expecting it to arrive in Houston until sometime next week. I hope to pick it up on the 20th. If it does arrive this week, it will kill me to know that it will sit for a week while I'm cooling my heels up here in Dallas. Oh well, time is getting short!
Thanks to all the members who've picked up their cars and been reporting on the joys of Motoring. You've helped the rest of us pass the time while we're waiting.

I got the call from the dealer this morning. Unfortunately, he says it will not be ready for pick up until tomorrow. Not really sure why it takes them so long, as I believe it probably arrived to them yesterday. Oh well. One more day.
Got word that my Mini (a Carmen graduate) has cleared the VPC and was released to the carrier yesterday! Since it is a short drive to the dealer it may even be there now. Damn, this is getting exciting now. Hopefully will have it before Valentine's Day! They still have to install the alarm for me.

Hey Hamster,
Hope you get "Ferris" soon. I've had my car parked for a week because the weather's been so cruddy.
Let me know how the alarm install goes, I may be interested in putting on in.
Hope to see you around the neighborhood soon. Jon

OK, now time for an update. My wife and I are doing everything we can to keep both the Neon and get the MINI. We'll get rid of the Metro. We thought long and hard about the re-fi on the Neon to get the payment down, but the best we could find was a five year lowering the payments from 400+ to 250. If we got a five year on the MINI we'd be around 600+/month. This still wouldn't work on a monthly schedule. So howabout if we left the Neon's financing alone. Only 32 months left to pay on it. So I found the MINI select financing that does the ballon payment at the end. We thought that a 36 month then a ballon would work well. We'd have the Neon paid off and have enough extra to re-fi the ballon. Our hopes are high, the economy is low and things are really scary/tense/etc. in our lives. The MINI passed thru the Panama canal on Monday and is steaming up the Pacific quickly and steadily. Arrives in port the 18th. Might get it around the end of the month. Wish me luck!
