About to purchase Toyo Proxes R888R 205/50ZR15 BUUUUUT

So I've decided on Toyo Proxes R888R 225/50ZR15 as my next set of tires but when it comes to winter , obviously I won't be using or driving the car but would it be OK to leave the tires on the car during winter while its stored in my garage ? I live in se Wisconsin so weather isn't extreme here though we do get our occasional cold snaps...
unfortunately firehawk indys are not sold in my tire size I need and found a great deal on those toyos so..

I have Toyo proxies on my Escalade ESV and I don’t drive it all the time. I have not had any issues with them flat spotting from sitting. Why don’t you just put it on Jack stands?

They make a set of blocks that help keep tires from flat spotting, I will post that up when I find them again, but I would probably just put mine up on jacks for the winter if I could. I run all seasons in the winter so I drive her when it’s nice enough.

Why not leave the tires on for the winter and replace next spring?

if I had to guess, he has worn out the old set, and there still is plenty of motoring time left. That cooler air is coming and who wouldn’t want to bang some gears while you can.

If you're going to spend that kind of money on that kind of tire, I would follow Toyo's recommendations, and take the wheels off the car, and store them properly during winter months:
https://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/...eStorage-6.pdf

Remove these tires from the vehicle and deflate to half the normal air pressure during prolonged periods of non-use or storage.

I could put it on jackstands. I guesssssss I could always store them in my place , I mean , I had a set of slicks on rims in here for a season so I got a spot I could put them.
I would rather though keep them mounted on the car though juuuuust encase I needed to take that car out of the garage for a few hours while I had to bring in another of our vehicles to work on ( wife has a 2018 crv and I have another dailydriver mini I play with yet )
would they be safe you think leaving on the rims ,On the car but the car on jack stands and the tires half deflated ? Then iiiiiiiiiif I had to incase of emergency repair for out dailys , then I could atlrast air up the tires , jack it down and pull it out. Then atleast it won't be driven on the tires more than 20ft and be fully inflated in cold weather for more than a few hours until I could get the said repairs done on other vehicle and then pull this one back in the garage and reset it up again into storage mode..
Because YES I want to enjoy this last month of cold , sweet ,dense air that these cars love so much.. I'm hoping to hit the 1/4 track to get a time to compare it against last time I took it wgen it was stock head, cam and sc but full bolt ons ( it ran a 14.3 then on a 95'F day with crap ebay tires ) so I'm hoping to knock off 1-1.5 seconds now I got a bvh, cam , sprintex and good tires...I break mid to low 13s ima be happy..iiiiiiiif I hit 12s ille be AMAZED .
this little troll makes some power and I have yet to be able to utilize it , YET...I CANT wait to get these tires. I will be switching from garbage noname ebay for forceum hena ( yes that's the brand lol ) 205/55r15 to a toyo proxy 225/50r15 so that alone I bet is good for a decent knock down in time..

You should definitely read that pdf I linked above. Even if the roads are dry, you don't even want to move the car below a certain temperature for risk of cracking the tire.

I would consider a different tire if you are insistent on driving when the temps get low.

@Jason Cornelius Exactly my thought process.

OP, how will you feel next spring if you get the car going and the tires feel like crap because they were too cold over the winter? I keep my track tires in the basement at a constant 55 degrees over the winter.

If you need to ask you already know the answer to the question. Just wait until spring to buy the 888Rs. Or buy them now, drive them a couple times, put them into heated indoor storage and pick up a set of shot 4x100 wheels+tires on Craigslist for like $100 so you can roll the car around through the winter. Sell the $100 tire set in the spring.

On the other hand, 100 treadwear tires could be worn out before the cold weather sets in!

Quick question about the tires guys are these tires considered street legal or not I thought they were due to the treadpattern cut in them but my body says they're not because of the 100 treadwear Can anybody confirm who is right for me please not that I care but just wondering
I live in Wisconsin by the way I know law varies state of state

R888R are street legal, DOT.

you don't want to drive them on the street.. any type of water and the tire is worthless.

You really want to be on a 200tw like a RE71R (whenever the new one comes stateside) or similar. I run my RE71R in the rain hard.

Good luck.

it's only a fair weather cruiser / bruiser...but I ordered 2x because it's all I can afford at a time but atleast then I can make sure I don't have fitment issues , which I'm kind of scared of because of all my custom suspension and aftermarket rims and offset...I'm running a 205 tire and I have about half inch only from my coil over and fender liner..I don't mind them poking out , I actually like that look on minis so I'm excited yet nervous.heres the car , it's a fully build btw. Better be around 300hp too by now.

Why only 2 and why are you doing ordering tires at almost 1 am?

As outlined in my R53 thread topic, I'm ready to replace the like-new but nearly 16 yrs old Toyo Proxes RA1 DOT track tires. With no track use plus living in a usually fair weather climate area with no rain or severe weather driving intended, I thought I'd settled on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. OTOH, the above mentioned warnings about 40* min ambient temps has me reconsidering Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 instead of summer tires. Why? Tire manufacture warnings on summers tires extend beyond that of not using them below 40*F temps to include storage not below 20*F and if the tires are exposed to temps below that, not to move the car for 24 hours after temps rise to avoid cracking subsequently. Where I live at 5k' elev, we routinely get below freezing winter nights but rarely into single digits. My cars are kept in an attached enclosed garage but not being heated follows outside temps within a few degrees. I'd hate to ruin brand new tires due to ignorance.

the freezing dries out the tires and they are slower on track.

also those tires suck imo. I would stick with 200tw and if on street a rs4 is much more progressive at the limit, it wont break away and put you in a spin like many of the others and has more feel, the r888r have bad feel in comparison..

RS4 have the same warning but I drive them below freezing, does not matter if you do not do trackdays

Get a cheap set of 4x100 steelies off Craigslist, even better if they come with worn, crappy tires. Put them on the car before storage and bring the R888's inside and keep them toasty in your basement / crawl space.
