Chrome cover loose

All,
The Chrome gas cap cover is loose, seems like a spring or something broke. 1. How do you remove the assembly? 2. Is there a part that can be replaced to fix?

Greetings.

The same loose chrome fuel door happened to me a few months back on my 2005 MCS. My new (to me ) independent repair facility removed the left rear wheel liner for access, replaced the hinge...and re-installed the fuel door. I put a piece of painters tape over the fuel door, so as to not lose it whilst driving to the repair facility.

Labor was $135. Part was $108. Not as expensive as I thought it would be.
