Monster Garage's Snowmobile MINI
Check out what I found in the local toy store - the snowmobile converted MINI from Monster Garage! The rear tracks are motorized. Very neat although a bit of a shame that the proportions and detailing are way off.
|
The detailing is off (mirrors in the wrong location, front end is different, etc). No where does it say MINI or BMW.
Haven't seen yet how it moves. I especially like the sound tidbits...very cool. |
Mini licensing is costly and tough to get, and that is why it doesnt say or look like a mini
|
What's this toy store's name?
There's too many differences to make it totally cool, but there's enough there to make me wanna have it. Cheers, |
I've seen them at Wal-Mart. They also have the other Monster Garage cars.
|
If you've played the monster garage game, the proportions are off just like this car... must have been too much work to program in the sweet lines of the mini...
|
I got mine at KB Toys. I was unable to upload the pix of the front where it sort of looks like a 50's Toyota. Not even close. It's still cool though as it crawls along on the rear tracks.

This should be a collectors item
When the MINI/Mini was named the Marque Car for the 2004 Pittsburgh Vintage Grandprix we tried to get this Monster Mini Snowmobile to make an appearence at the Vintage Grandprix. Our contact with the company that produces Monster Garage told us some unfortunante news. Apparently the Snowmobile Mini had many maintenance problems and basically "Fell apart and was disassembled". Sadly the Snowmobile Mini lives on only in our memories/on film/ and in badly recreated toys

Love that semi-engine trike. That'll have to be the replacement now, for current still-standing projects they created. Cheers, |
I saw it in the International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits in NYC a couple years ago. It looked sweet ! Even if it doesn't run, why would the dismantle it. That's stupid, the majority of the people just want to tlook at it anyway !

Man horrible detail, but very cool looking!

I wonder if the reason why it doesn't look quite right, and does not having any badges, is because MINI is trying to put the entire event behind them  . I am very supprised that this episode is not available on DVD, and there is very little mention of it on official discovery channel website. Could be that BMW/MINI were so ticked with the way the car was treated that they are trying to burn the remains. Just a thought. About a month or so back DC had a Monster marathon and this eposide was not shown. Makes you wonder.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...achmentid=2775 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...achmentid=2776 I have this toy! Donna/Mike gave me one recently, and I get a kick out of the sound effects. Still have it in its box! Clover  |
Camminich - I suspect that the reason may be as simple as not wanting to pay a license fee to BMW as well. BTW, the Mini snowmobile is featured in the Monster Garage book in the Discovery Store although you are right in noticing that I can't find it on any of the Monster Garage DVD's.
As an aside, are you guys doing another cookout / meeting during the 2005 USGP weekend? It was great fun last year and I intend to be in town again. |
Good deal, I will keep an eye out for the book.
And on the side note, we sure better be doing the cook-out again. I got so tired of hearing about the event and drive at the Speedway, that I moved to Indy from Seattle (well I guess for other reasons too) .
