We've found the original MINI clutch to be the most reliable and last the longest.

I've not had good luck with the aftermarket or even just OEM ones.

Seen both the pressure plates and throw out bearings in the aftermarket kits fail. They look identical at times, but the quality of the original MINI parts has proven to be higher and more reliable. And with the way I warranty all the work I do the difference in price isn't worth having to do the job a second time.

Pretty happy with my Valeo. I swapped out the stock clutch right after I bought the car in Jan 2019. <80k miles and slipping.

Valeo has been on for about 10 months and 5k miles of spirited driving, with lots of in town miles. Very pleased.

I have a rattling clicking sound . Hard to describe, but while in motion if I push the clutch in it stops when I let off on the pedal it returns, the faster I go the faster it gets.. so would I assume throw out bearing .. it shifts fine.. I changed out the gear oil with redline just because I wasn't sure when it was done last.. I picked this beast up for $300 and it runs and looks great besides the clutch noise.

Just need to know what else to look for when I pull it apart to be sure .

I have the same sound. I believe it is related to the OE dual-mass flywheel. I have had that sound for many years. Functions fine, but bothers me nonetheless. I don't understand what if any significance it has; am waiting for someone knowledgeable to chime in.

I will be pulling it out regardless, don't need it exploding on me to where I would have to buy the case
Just don't know what else to look for

He has an R50 Non S so there is NOT a dual mass flywheel. The R50 has a standard solid steel flywheel so that is for sure not his noise.

the is the noise I hear,, clutch in noise usually goes away clutch out noise follows with acceleration. It a spare car so its parked for the most part, I just want to get it on the road and not worry about tearing it up any farther..

I know for now until I open it up Im on a witch hunt by checking for anything loose,, axles , air box, pulleys , deflectors ect.
But im leaning to more internal issues, usually how my luck rolls

More likely the gearbox problem. The Midland box is known to be unreliable. If no noise on 4th gear, that is a strong indication as 4th is straight though I think except coupling to differential.

Don't bother rebuilding or trying to rebuild the Midlands unit. Spend your money on converting it to a 6 speed. Much better trans and the 05-06 model year trans have a more favorable final drive for the R50.

I feel a little vibration somewhere along the travel while pressing the clutch. This started yesterday so I can just barely remember it. I replaced the fluid but the fluid I used is GL5 So maybe my problems are still bad fluid. I'll get redline soon.

Putting the shifter into reverse causes a grind and slam. Using the clutch with reverse, first, and second is bouncy and unsure unless I rev the engine to 3k rpm. Shifting into third or fourth at speed is hard and sometimes the shifter won't engage at all. A few nights ago I grinded third and fourth and I could swear I didn't do anything wrong. For over a year engine breaking with a cool transmission in second gear results in a marbles tumbling kind of sound. With all these other problems emerging third gear is now doing the tumbling marbles too.

Sound like TO bearing or no?

I also recently replaced the transmission mount with a power flex bushing if that maybe had something to do with this. It started the next day.

Oh there was rough idle with clutch pressed and stick in first at any stopped red light, but the new fluid resolved that.

Since the fluid swap I'm hearing a whine with the car in neutral and while any gear is engaged.
