Looking for old thread on refinishing the BBS wheels off of the MC40
I refinished these wheels about 10 yrs. ago and followed the thread on where to purchase the nuts that hold the trim to the center. My wife curbed one of the wheels and I remember that you could only reuse those nuts only once.
Yep, the MC40 R90 wheels are actually two-piece and made by BBS. The centers (spokes) are held on by 15 Torx screws. Ace Hardware carries a large selection of chrome nuts, washer, bolts and screws. I used them extensively when dressing up my Harley.

Stupid question, but I had no idea these could even be refinished: how would I do that? What do they do to them? I have an MC40 as well and the wheels look like dookie from all of the curb rash but otherwise seem to be in great shape.

Did mine 8 years ago and came out wonderful. This time I finished the lip without having to take them apart because there was only curb rash and nothing going under the center and under the clear coat as had before and has happened to almost everyone with these BBS wheels.

That's cool, you did it yourself? How so? Or I guess that's ultimately what this thread is about .

Did it myself, very easy. A little dirty polishing the lips.
I have a couple of areas near the alum. lip where some of the paint got polished of. So trying to find a touch up paint to match the grey centers.
I had my MC40 wheels refinished in Dallas. They machine the rims to like-new and repaint the centers. Paid $130 each and that includes a re-balance.
That's a very good price and I thought about it, but decided I would like to learn how to polish alum. Very satisfying and I am not as apprehensive about tackling them in the future if I still have the car.
Here you go: https://arswheelrepair.com. Located in Carrollton just off LBJ - drop off one day, pick up the next. Used them on my Jag also and they do a great job.
