HELP please!
Hello, I bought a 2006 R50 auto a month ago and need to fix it. It runs ok but I wanted to fix most errors before long drives everyday. Just received my Creator c501 scan tool and it's not reading all of the modules. Cleaned ecu today and no change. I'm wondering if my tachometer or rev counter intermittently working has anything to do with it. Thought I read it giving someone else problems. I'll add photos of modules not read and error codes. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Hey folks I may be an idiot. I used the creator C310+ It was giving me 3 menus ECU ECU2 and immobilizer. I cant connect to ECU but ECU2 immobilizer and the rest of modules are accessible and i can get to engine data. Not even sure if ECM option exists? Software glitch?
On the older MINIs sometimes the reader will show stuff but you cannot read it. As the MINI gets newer in generations it can actually read more with select MINI specific code readers. Also i would use another scan tool just to make sure that one is not bad. Some of those basic code readers dont read all the codes .
Also you might have a issue with the (think its called) Combox and the controls of the dash. Some of those are related to a bad cluster, bad basic module (gen 1 MINI footwell module) or a weak battery or bad battery to starter connection.

I think that was the case. My cheap generic foxwell didnt do too good. My creator c310+ worked exactly the same as in the OPs pic. ECM cant connect ECM2 works. As far as I know there is only one ECM in the cooper. And I tested the white and purple data wire from OBD port(pin 7 i think?) all the way to the small ECM plug and had continuity.
I should probably look and check all the ground areas. I think there is one in the trunk and one off the passenger engine mount and maybe a tranny one?
Edit: The ECM2 gave me all sorts of data all the live engine data , intake temps and pressure and so on so I think "ECM" module is a just a glitch in the scanner because I had to select the cooper model manually.

I'll echo Pete, I have the same scanner and from new it only recognizes ecm2 but all the data is there. I'm thinking "ecm" is probably for later models possibly with two ecm's? I came to the forum today to post this exact same question and found it addressed here and today
