Well, CARMEN has been plying the ocean for nearly three days now and there's still no idea of where she is -- at least to us landlubbers. Too bad WW doesn't have a tracking map built into their site as some shippers do (P & O Nedlloyd, for example). Guess we'll just have to wait and hope like in the old days. Perhaps I'll go up on the Widow's Walk now and have a spy.

That's my understanding... I've heard there might be a delay in the arrival if that bad weather up NE moves over to the ocean, they might have to alter the route and/or hang out in an area for a while... but let's hope everything happens as planned..

wjklos - I have an update!

I just called ASK MINI (8:05am pst) and Stewy is at status 152! Paint shop started!

I am SOO excited! My friends think I'm totally weird, but hey, I'm a car nut. :smile:

 

Lucky guy MiniDean... when I was in that status... I was unable to get any freaking information... while all of my build date guys flew past me. But I made it to Carmen along with the rest of my nestlings.... I went from scheduled to awaiting transport and no steps in between.

UPDATE !! Here you go Bill....with askmini being closed yesterday, I missed a critical update but was pleasantly surprised to find my car at status 160 as of 2/18 !! Yeaaaaah buddy !!! Sorry MINIDean, don't want to rain on my fellow 2/21'ers parade but you'll catch up real quick. I went from 151 on 2/14 to 155 on 2/17 and onto 160 today. Jen didn't know when I hit the 152 or 153 but it must have been Sat and Sun. I should be at port of exit with the next two days and then HOPEFULLY onto the HTN (21st) but I'm hoping we've hit the scheduling just right as there are FOUR ships leaving in the next 7days destined for NYC which all arrive the first week in March.

Ah, Bill...While I wish that were true, I think I'm still at port in NY/NJ waiting for the VPC. (Unless, of course, you know something I don't know...that would be great!). Sorry I haven't checked in in a while...but I had nothing good to report...

Still hoping I make it to the VPC this week...we shall see.

By the way, I'm really enjoying all of the activity here. Lots of boat-tracking going on!

So once the MINIs are unloaded from the boat by the grungy gorton's fishermen, they just hang out by the docks until it's their turn to go to the VPC/VDC? I guess I was just assuming (for some reason) that they'd all immediately go to the VPC/VDC and wait there. I mean I guess there's some holding warehouse of sorts, and they aren't just sitting there, but who knows...

Yo scoops, when did your MINI get unloaded? Just wondering about how long I can estimate before getting to the VPC/VDC.

Man, I bet the anticipation increases tenfold while it's somewhere in the states!

I certainly don't know this, but wouldn't it make sense that no cars are moving to the VPC that came to the port of NY because of the snow storm?

Not sure what the hold-up is, but it's my understanding that the cars sit at the dock in a holding area until the VPC is ready for them. The VPC really only take a 1-2 days to work (I think), but they're backed up. I've heard everything from 1 day from port to VPC to two weeks from port to VPC. Mine arrived 2/10 at the port, and is still there over a week later. The snow is currently slowing them down, for sure, but there was a back up before the snow fell, too...

You're not kidding, by the way...the wait is MUCH worse once you car's in the country. I live in CT and work in Philly, and the car's in Bayone, NJ. Taking the train past there, and knowing that my little car is buried under two feet of snow, is pretty tough. It'll only take 2 hours to get from the VPC to the dealership, but the two weeks to get through the VPC is killer!

So close, and yet so far!

OK. Update.

I just called ASK MINI again. As of noon I am at status 153. Assembly started! It's happening now. Wow! I called at 8am and it was still 152 paint shop. I'm in California, so I think Oxford is 8 hours ahead...Hmm.

So at 4:00 PM Oxford time I was still at 152.
At 8:00 PM Oxford time I am at 153.

My car is going to be born tonight!

I can't find her either. I don't know of another site other than the accuweather site. Maybe they are too busy dealing with snow!
