R50/53 Widest wheels R53?

You probably can't go much wider without cutting the body and adding flares if you don't want it to rub. The wheels are out to the edge on these cars stock and adding width means either adding it inboard or hitting the body. I would measure the car at full steering lock and see how close you are to the suspension and body and that should give you a rough idea.

Yeah there's definitely a lot to think about here. I was hoping to go up to at least a 225 tire, all depends on offset and such, I know. Just thinking maybe somebody had already done the dirty work and found the perfect size but I guess I'll have to get on the ground and see for myself. Thanks guys.

Yep, 8.5 might be the limit. I have seen wider but it requires rolling metal /cutting the plastic arches and some wide wheels that poke or with 30mm spacers. On the newer MINIs like the F60/F54 we got 10" wheels to fit in the rear but it had crazy poke.

I don't want a ton of poke. I noticed the negative camber on all 4 and it seems if I were to get some spacers it would flush the top of the wheels and the bottoms would poke, I'm fine with that. But I don't want the top poking out. I don't want spacers because function over form, duh. But the wider tires would do a good justice to both. I have to rotate my tires tomorrow so I likely will be looking into it then and I'll report back what I've found.
