2005 R50 CVT Acts Strange of the Line

When I (try to) accelerate quickly off the line the CT hold the revs at 2k until I get to around 20mph, then it shifts down and the revs get up to 3 or 3.5k. Needless to say it's slow and odd. When the CVT finally downshifts it creates a surge of speed. It's been like since I've know the car; about 6 years.

The CVT adaption was run about a year ago and it made a huge difference, but didn't fix this "problem." Is this normal behavior? It seems to me the CVT should be in the lowest ratio off the line.

Sounds normal to me but I don't usually check the rpm as it goes up / down if we give it a little extra juice to get going. How often do you change the CVT fluid?
