06 Harmon Kardan Amplifier/Speaker Specs?

Hey all, I'm looking for some info on the H/K factory amp. Long story short, I'm trying to decide the best/most efficient way to upgrade the speakers and reach the result I'm looking for.

Does anyone know the RMS wattage output of the amp? The speakers? More specific, the amp ohms?

Here's the rest of the story. I recently installed a 600w RMS amp and 12" sub. I love it, but the speakers can't keep up (I've always wanted a little more volume anyway). I've searched on my own and talked with local car audio shops and basically I have two options.
  1. Replace speakers, keeping them all running from the factory amp. This is a cheaper option, but I'm not sure I'll get the volume I want. For all I know, the factory amp is maxed and this will provide the same sound.
  2. Replace speakers and amp. This is much more expensive and requires more work in wiring.

Any input is greatly appreciated as I've hit a wall in my research. Thanks!

Look at the HK related threads in the audio sub-forum: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-and-audio-14/

In summary, it's hard to replace only the HK speakers and get optimal results. Each HK speaker is basically a raw driver with no crossover, and the HK amp is highly customized to match with them. Each speaker is on a separate HK amp channel that also applies DSP which functions as electronic crossover and applies frequency response equalization. So if you replace an HK speaker with aftermarket, the amp will still apply a response curve and crossover that was designed for the original speaker. It is a common complaint that it is difficult to upgrade separate parts of the HK system without gutting the entire system.

When I upgraded all of my speakers......I just took the entire HK amp out of the system. Trying to get the factory HK amp to work with non HK speakers is not worth the trouble. Just bypass the entire thing....run all new speaker wires, and be done with it.
