Interior Sun Roof surround fell off 2005 MCS

My 2004 MCS interior surround for the sun roof fell of, it contains the sunroof switch and the cable prevented it from falling away completely. Any idea how it is held up? It pushed back into place but its a matter of time before it falls down again.

Thanks

MW

I have no idea how to secure it back up.... would love to see a picture of the back of it though... I kinda want to try installing some sort of "map light" in there, but I dont want to rip it all apart to find out I cannot successfully do it!!!

I would contact the dealer and find out how to repair it... sounds like it would be covered as well.

The surround is held in by being clipped to the headliner and the sunroof inside frame with tabs around it's perimeter, plus two lock pins where the switch is. It's a bit tricky to get it to fit properly, and that is probably why it came down in the first place. There are two notches in the area of the switch and mic grille that mate with white pins in the sunroof mechanism. You can pop out the switch and the grille to see the pins to line things up. Line up the tabs at the front edge of the frame with the headliner and frame while pushing forward to lock the frame to the pins. Then work your way around the frame hooking the tabs to the headliner and frame. Once snapped in properly, it should not be easy to dislodge.

Sounds like someone on the line had a pint too many at lunch that day.
