acknowledging other MINI motorists

WHENEVER I see another MINI, I always give em a honk. Usually its as Im FLYING by them on the highway...but hey...a honk is a honk.

I remember once, I was going into a left turn at a green arrow and there was a MINI waiting to go straight. I honk just before the turn, so they probably look over and see another MINI carve up an AWESOME turn(tires screached a little). Like...yea...that's how its done

anyway...how to YOU acknowledge other MINI on the road?

It depends on how much time I have to react. I wave wildly, usually; or I flash my brights during the day. Sometimes, I do the one-finger-up-over-the-steering-wheel acknowledgement. I also try to make eye-contact and smile and/or give a thumb's-up!

Lights, honk, wave...whatever it takes to get their attention.

I've been in Wanda with Clover... like me, she intends to to acknowledge, but like me, she sometimes misses the opportunity due to spirited conversation. Anyway, those that don't honk, wave, or something either are not car enthusiasts or just missed the opportunity.

Godspeed.

Always.. if I don't wave, I didn't see you. I'm pretty friendly.

And yeah... the SUVs get the one finger from me too

I usually wave...sometimes just with a few fingers like Clover said... especially if I've made eye contact with the other motorer. Occasionally I'll toot my horn if conditions warrant (don't want to cause unnecessary alarm ), other times, when the horn-thing won't do (too many other cars about) I'll flash my lights to get the other motorer's attention and then wave.

In my neighborhood there are probably about 10 MINIs and by now we know each other pretty much by site. Some of these folks I've talked to, some I haven't...........yet. So the waves are pretty well established around here.

Now the other day I saw a familiar MINI...a JB/W Cooper and I've seen the lady-motorer many times before (haven't talked to her yet, though). Both of us know about the wave-thing. So when we saw each other coming and then passed going opposite direction, there was a horn-beeping, light-flashing, double-handed, big smilin' wave-fest going on and it was a blast......kinda made my morning!

I usually just smash into said motorer at full speed.

Funny, I haven't had any acknowledgement issues...

Maybe it's a MINI thing
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Although there could be an alarming new trend in MINI Owners
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Sometimes women don't wave
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Maybe it's a problem with acknowleging others
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
But do we all wave to each other
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Hey, do you still wave
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Should we stop waving?
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
And when was your first wave anyay?
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
Maybe some owners just aren't in the motoring spirit?
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
But just what is a cool MINI salute?
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave
And just how do you great other MINI owners?
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=wave

Or maybe I'm just getting bored with this horse being beaten to dust...

Nah, the little search button in the upper right corner looked like it needed a little attention...

I always try to either wave or flash my lights when I see another MINI. It's so much fun when you both see each other and that BIG SMILE. I rarely honk - as others said above - sometimes others don't understand why you are honking. I LOVE being acknowledged by others....makes my day... You know what I mean - it's the small things in life that make you happy...

Chow!

If any of you are driving around Sacramento and you see a white Dodge Caravan honking, waving, and flashing - it's me.

Please bear with me just a little bit longer. Tillie is at the VDC!

since i still can't find my horn in time, I usually flash, or a wave. Most Minis in my area are oblivious and a bit taken off guard. Sucks.....

haha, yea. I am driving a 93 chevy cavalier right now...I see MINI's, obviously, and I wave/honk, whatever. They HAVE to be like WTF?!.

I seriously need a "my other car is a MINI" bumper sticker

Don't worry Lombard... I will wave back if I see you... Im in a DS/B MCS with Union Jack Mirror caps.

I have had problems with people in our area not waving... its a trend as mentioned in previous posts... However I live in a Yuppie stuck up area... so they think its yuppie anyways... Some of the people in my area think that are from Malibu or Bel Air or Carmel or something. Its really sad... We should take their MINIs away. Hmmm....

Hey, Ric.....I use the index finger, NOT the middle finger! And one of my other cars is an '88 Isuzu Trooper...an SUV!

And CooperBeagle....if I missed waving to a MINI when I was driving you to or from lunch, it was ONLY because you were distracting me!

What a bunch of picky sticklers!

I see there may be a need for some retractable flag that pops up on the roof or bonnet saying -

"Have a Happy Motoring Day!"

Until I get one I'll just have to roll down the window and wave.

Sometimes all I see is a tinted window and someone talking on the cellphone

Yeah I wish I had a big "MY MINI IS AT HOME" sticker across the top of my windshield so that I could wave at MINIs I see without feeling like a Moron.

Not one to toot my own horn, I'm mostly a flasher. Some times a wave though.

And just the other day Patricia and I were talking about how happy we were that you had yet to flash us!

I pulled up behind a green Cooper today(in my 93 cavalier) at a red light. I gave the double thumbs up on the steering wheel. I got a Thumbs up back through the rear window.....YES!
