Cold weather; my knob's cold!!

Heated seats? Great. But that gear shift knob for the first 20 minutes is freezing!! Has anyone seen a product that fits over the cold metal to keep your shift hand from freezing?

Try a sock.

I was hoping for something a little more asthetically pleasing :(

I am thinking about getting a Whalen then having it covered in leather, with hand stitching MoMo style.

sndwave Nov 16, 2004 06:43 AM

There was a lady I met at the Dragon this fall who was selling leather with lining knob cozy’s.

She was with the Indiana group is all I remember. MINIclo talked with her for some time and may know her name/screen name. Drop her a PM.

yeah same problem for the alabama summer-when you forget to put up the sunshade, the shift knob gets REALLY hot. Talk about quick shifts for the first couple of minutes.

asarfati Nov 16, 2004 06:50 AM

i heard of this invention called the driving glove. They come in pairs and everything:lol:

PM MINItencan...she knows how to contact the gal. I bought a set of "Seat Pull Straps" from her, which are fantastic! They make it much easier to lower and raise the backseats!

Clover

Leather driving gloves are the only way........you'll feel like and honest to goodness race car driver! Why in the world would I even consider covering my Whalen knob?

No one is listening:sly: REMOVE the Whalen knob and put it in your pocket...or with your other knob to keep warm:roll:

MINIGURU@WAY MOTOR WORKS Nov 16, 2004 04:14 PM

We have the shift knob cozes here in IN. She makes them with the S or MINI embrodered into it. They work great I put mine on weeks ago, and it doesn't slip around like a sock will. Her NAM id is glMINI. If you can't get in touch with her drop me an email and I will get her to you.

If you think the factory knob is cold, you should try a Whalen! Now THAT'S ccccccold.

Thanks for the info MINIGURU. As for the rest of you; grow up!

ImaVunDerBrah Nov 17, 2004 05:54 AM

ok, fine  My Whalen gets extremely cold and extremely hot... so when I first get in the car I either cover it with something, or just grab right below the knob... doesn't make for fanstastic shifting, but temperatures get back to normal pretty soon. I'm hoping to make a little 'booty' for my knob ( :sly:  ) out of fleece with some elastic on the bottom.

--- yeah Sid, I know you can just take a Whalen inside with you... but mine really isn't very easy to remove/replace. In other words... I just can't get my knob off properly
