R50/53 What This? New Find
What This? New Find
Just found a trap door under Toggle switch board. Above cup holders. I opened it up and a computer board with red light fell out. Whats it for? Does anyone know what it is? Its connected by a rainbow colored Ribbon cable.
That’s the highly sought after, no longer in production, Ian Cull auto up module. It adds auto up to your windows and some other programmable things like auto fog lights, auto DSC deactivation, and hidden secondary auxiliary functions to make some toggles control accessories you’ve added to the car.
The extra functions depend on the version, with v7 being the last. It plugs inline between the toggle panel and harness. It looks like version 6, but the version number should be printed on the circuit board for you to verify.

The Days of Future Passed.
As each day passes the Gen1 gets older and more new people discover them. Those Newbies that frequent these parts learn that there were some very talented folks here that pushed the envelope.

Yes, if you want the convenience of auto up windows or any other feature it offers. Even if not, lots of people are looking for them so it should be an easy sell for a decent amount of $. I think the original price was $50, but they've been selling for more. Not sure on the actual selling price, but the last one on NAM was a v6, offered for $95 shipped, and was marked sold less than 3 hours later.
However, there was a post yesterday of a similar item being developed so another option might be available soon.

I do like all the features it does. I thought all R53 minis did the things mine does. I did notice right away about the auto windows and I do love the we way it handles. The guy I purchased the car from had the JCW package installed, 380 injectors, JCW intake, reduction pulley,Miltek Exhaust and full JCW brakes and suspension, M7 Tower brace, and now some extra electronic gadgets also has a Sprint Booster. I did know this car was special when I first saw it. I just didn't know how special.

Just so you know, those are grilles from the factory aero kit, usually sold with a different front bumper cover. The thin grille behind the license plate required some modification to fit the standard front bumper cover you have. Pretty cool to have.

The back should be same as the S, just updated aggressive pads. People took them a step further and painted them back in the day to match the front. The Red sway bar is painted JCW bar or an alta performance bar. Thats my guess.

I bought this car off my Doctor. From the paperwork and what he told me. The JCW kit was sent out from the dealer to a shop that installed everything. There was no painting on any of the parts. Everything is factory powder coated.
huh, that's weird.

No, never even heard of Milltek. I think he added it because of the JCW upgrade. Intake, injectors, pulley, and ECU tune. All I know is that its a little rocket.
