My 2005 Dark Silver Mini Cooper S

First post with the Mini as a subject. Got it from the original owner with higher miles, all records and service intervals recorded. Ill have to dig to find the pics from when i picked it up, here are the current shots.

Next big move is JCW motor swap, but learning how these cars are coded and whats needed to swap anything between years/cars is intimidating.

I tracked it a Lime Rock with NASA earlier this year, cannot describe how much fun that was. I recommend HPDE through any school, I now really understand what these cars can do...cant wait to go back and learn more stuff.

Thanks to everyone that helped me piece this thing together over the last few months.

////// Earlier photos, how it looked at showing //////

////// Earlier photos, how it looked after being purchased //////

////// Earlier photos, how it looked after suspension and stage 1 aero kit matched //////

////// Earlier photos, how it looked after corner balance and track alignment ////

/////// Laminexed my tails after second set of lights started to get foggy ///////

/////// established a no street parking rule ///////

/////// early steering wheel and shifter setup (wheel is for sale $300 shipped) ///////

/////// did a mini type of thing, and also bumper gap, will be fixed soon ///////

A few minor details are still needed to complete it... im sure the forum will be quick to point them out. Just trying to be smart about my efforts and not take thing apart more than needed. NYC is not a fun spot to work on cars. =)

Saved for later updates..

nice photos

Nice photography. I like the complex illumination under the overpass. Are those gun metal colour wheels? I prefer them over black that is so popular now. Black wheels would likely just black blobs in that lighting.

Cheers, thank you. I was hesitant to post this because the light isnt perfect, but you still get a peek a the nice silhouette.

The wheels are "hyper black" by rota terms, but they are indeed more gunmetal than black. Iv been resigned to parking under the bridge, people here tend to park on top of smaller cars.

Very nice.. Also a Dark Silver owner.

If you don’t mind: What is that shifter setup? Looks like a plate to eliminate the boot? I really like the wheel as well.

Craven speed shift boot delete with this custom carbon fiber overlay, found it on ebay.

The boot delete is one of my favorite mods, it just fits the interior better imo.

What is your justification for the swap? They are the same engine aside from external equipment and the head.

Lower miles, JCW head.

No real reason except to spend money and be able to look at it and say, would you just look at it...

OMG. It's the man's Mini and he can well choose to do what tickle his fancy. Go justify what you did to yours and let us pick on it.

he he

What would you suggest i spend the money on? At this junction I am dreaming...but there are a few motors floating around that are low miles and decent price...

The only other the things i want are oem brembos, and some oem recaros, or same model recaros as the GP.

and that OEM flower holder thing =)

Did you snap up the crate JCW motor from the owner moving to New Zealand? I would have if I have a space to store an extra motor.

Instead of OEM Bimbo I recommend getting the hot fashion Wilwood instead.

My point was just to indicate to you the engines are basically the same and it would be a lot of work and money for very little benefit.

I hear what you are saying. But, who knows, a low mile motor and possibly a tranny ready to drop in doesn't seem like too much of a waste. But shes running like a top, just did a quick JFK uber run.

Any info on the new steering wheel swap? What's you suspension setup when you still had the stock 17's?

I landed the steering wheel on this forum, you just have a wait, one will pop up. Thats what someone told me and it worked. so good luck =)

I'm about to post the first wheel that I had wrapped by redlinegoods.com, I sent it back and asked them to fix the small little things that bugged me.

I got it back this week, I'm taking pics now and will post them today. $325 shipped.

The PO said it was a custom JCW wheel with a flat bottom, its way sick and I have only seen one close on eBay for 1900 and its carbon fiber...very slick.

The suspension is KWv2 with all bushing replaced with poly, and some adjustable camber plates, rear camber, sway bar and adjustable end links.

wheels are 17x8 with 40et and tires are 215 45 17 re71m, they rub in the back under load. Once I figure out what I'm going to do next Ill have the fenders rolled and get a new kit of plastics for the arches.

The uber passenger was my wife. Saved us $50 and i got a nice shot of an empty terminal and the mini.

You sure got me fooled. I thought to myself, really, a Mini for uber? I would rather ride in a uber Mini than beige Prius. Only if it has passenger side 5 point harness though.

Are you in the Bronx?
