I finally made my perfect cellphone holder
Decided to design and print my own cellphone holder. I put a popsocket on my phone, so I wanted a solution that would account for it. I wanted to put the cellphone somehwere where it would not obstruct my view. I had to unplug the dashboard light cover, but I havent touched that button in 8+ years, so I'm good. It snaps in place, and I think it looks nice. I might plastidip to give it a nicer look.
You can grab the STL from here:

It snaps in the dashboard
I think it blends nicely in the dashboard

I can already see your weak point(s) is going to be where the larger rim attaches to the rest of the holder. The entire phone's weight will be held there, you will probably have to beef those connector sections up in future revisions.

You are absolutely correct, in one of the first iterations that connector broke just while trying to remove the part. So I printed with higher infill to mititgate a bit. I'll see how it holds for a while and if it keeps failing I will actually redesign the holder to be fully attached from the bottom. This was my first print to fit just right so was exited to share.

This was printed in PLA, the plastidip was to remove the shiny surface (which the vapor smoothing will enhance) and give it more of a stock look. If I end up doing it I will share the results. thank you for your tips!

The popsocket thing threw me for a bit and then I remembered what they were. Even though I don't have your model of car, I appreciate it when people share these designs with everyone else.
I wish I was skilled enough to make an integrated tablet holder for my F56.

Got 3 of these printed, 2 for our MINIs and one spare. Let me say, they are great. They snap in very firmly, and seem to hold the phone very securely. Thanks for designing that and sharing it.
For those that don't know, the button itself stays on the dash, the trim ring does need to be removed but it pulls straight off. This snaps in around the button.
If you have a cellphone with a pop socket, this is a great addition for mounting your phone out of the way of things.
