A few questions I have about current transmission/brake work as well as future mods
Hey guys I've got a 2006 R53 MCS that I've had for about a year and a half and I absolutely love it. It is currently my daily drive and will be my only vehicle for at least a few more years till I can make it a full time project/track car. I tend to do a lot of very spirited highway and city driving.
Some combination of being the sixth owner, teaching myself to drive stick, and having nearly 100k miles on this car has caused my throw out bearing to start going bad. It's my understanding that replacing this bearing will be very labor intensive and therefore quite expensive. While I'm having this work done I want to do whatever preventative maintenance I can. I would also like to take advantage of the transmission being dropped and go ahead and upgrade/replace any transmission parts now that will need to be swapped out in the future. Currently I'm considering putting in the following;
Stage 2 kevlar sprung clutch from spec clutch -518
Stage 3 clutch from madness motor works -419
Valeo single mass flywheel conversion from ecstuning -400
ACT lightweight flywheel -390
Being my daily drive I want to ensure any later power mods wont cause too much strain and/or potentially cause damage. I like doing things right but I also don't have the disposable income to go way overboard while building this car. I guess my first question is, what all should I consider replacing while the transmission is dropped, which of the above items would be best suited for my purposes, and any additional input or advice you may have.
Eventually I would like to get 250-300hp out of it, but first I want to improve handling and braking to be able to handle future power gains. While I have the transmission work done I'm planning on getting the following brake mods done. My second question is, is there a better option or will the following work for me now and in the future?
Brakes:
Front and rear stainless braided brake lines -145
ATE Super Blue/200 brake fluid -19
EBC yellowstuff brake pads all around -228
Cross drilled + slotted rotors (front) -already own, not yet installed
Cross drilled + slotted (rear) -180
If anyone is curious, the other mods I'd eventually like to do are listed below.
Alta or DDM CAI
Borla or Remus race exhaust
Snow performance stage 2 meth kit
Alta 17% or madness 19% pulley
Alta +2% or M7 +4% lightened crank pulley
Alta tensioner stop
MSD coilpack
Magnecor wires
Cold plugs
Coilovers
Alta, Hsport, or Eibach rear sway bar
A bunch of bushing replacements
Detroit tuned bypass valve
Madness header
Thank you in advanced for all your help!
