Mini Fini cup-holder spindle

Hi-
I am so excited to have finally purchased a MINI!!! Obviously, my 2003 is used and the one flaw is the after market cup holder spindle has cracked. Gluing it has not worked. Does anyone have just that spindle (or an entire cupholder) for sale? I do enjoy motoring with my cup of coffee.... Thank you!

It's a known weak point. I was considering milling a replacement spindle out of some aluminum stock I have, but It seemed like it was more effort than the $45 to just replace the whole thing. grrrr. I'm sure I'll replace it again someday.

My minifini cup holder has been going strong for 13 years, and I love it. Great design. The replacement stem is very reasonably priced.

Bummer, I wish I had seen that they offered replacement stems before I replaced the entire thing. Oh well. Next time!

factory cup holder

Believe it or now. The Mini Fini cupholder was the official standard issued with the Mini's in 2004 first wave of "facelift". Almost instantly there were chorus of outcry that it is crap, too small for holding the supersize soda. MINI USA quickly changed to a bigger one, and like they say Mini Fini was history.

big gulp soda

question: How did you get the rivet out that holds the stem to the cup holder body ?

Or is it a screw that holds it in there ??? Please post a reply.

Also, fyi Outmotoring sells the stems too !

Sigh,

The guys at the car wash broke mine today. I ordered three replacements from mini-fini since their shipping is a bit much.

To answer the previous question, there is a small screw inside the top of the stem.

Cheers,
Duane
