collision analysis - 2 biggies

I was visiting Jalopnik for something good to read. They cover more than just cars and often you can stumble into some excellent read on aviation, space, technology... - well anything on of some of men's great achievements. This article on Navy's investigations of the two not so distant fatal accidents both involved forward deployed destroyers, is an excellent read. I subscribe to the notion that most automotive accidents should be called incidents.

This is one striking photo that looks fake, but is real.

That's a heavy-lift semi-submersible ship, a very cool way of doing things. They partially "sink" the cargo ship, float the smaller ship into the cargo area, and then raise the cargo ship back out of the water.

another one incident involving 7th fleet destroy'ed-er

It is a slow day here on NAM. Winter is at the front door, and I am getting ready to jack up the Mini for the gazillion time to f' with the Milltek exhaust rubbing issue.

On the Guardian today I came across this latest incident involving, and yes, the 7th fleet.

More captain's and officiers' heads are going to roll. The sad truth is, the high command is where the problem is at.

Off to work on the destroyer in my fleet before the rain comes today.

It starts at the top.

Yes already starting to plan ahead for winter wrenching and new struts are on the list.

The general should go as the buck should stop there. One already been fired.

Would winter wrenching be done indoors? As for me, there would be very little wrenching so I have to make Mini shipshape before heavy rain comes.
