Ordering R90's - Do you get the stocks too?

So... If I order R90's (I like the 16") do I get the stock ones too?

Anyone want to talk about this...

I suppose I could use the stock ones for snow tires or... what??

Lets hear from the 'experienced ones' out there.

No. If you order the car with xxx rims, that is what you get. If you buy the rims from the dealer outright....well, of course.

SoCar S Oct 18, 2004 12:59 PM

Yes you do get to keep them, they come with S-Lites to the dealer who then installs the R90's. Make sure you tell them you want the originals. Mini considers them used whether they roll or not.

I do actually speak from experience. I have both the R90's and the factory S-lites. R90's do not actually come from the factory - they are dealer installed option, ordered or not. So is the AUX input, and the driving lights, and numerous other options.

AND yes I did "order" mine when I ordered the car along with numerous other options, some done at the factory, some done at the dealer.

SoCar... what will you do with the extra wheels? I could use them for the winter (Michigan) I suppose... is there any demand on Ebay for them (replacements for stock MC 15") etc.

SoCar S Oct 18, 2004 01:22 PM

I have had some friends that sold theirs after they got the wheels.
I have had mine boxed since new.

I may color match or spray them another color, and run them as show wheels.

Just sittin in boxes right now.. :)

That's news to me. I stand corrected:wink: . Not a bad deal then, huh?

Solarmax_Racing Oct 18, 2004 01:43 PM

Yeah, not a bad deal at all.

I like the look of the 16" R90's. My personnal opinion is that 17' (or more) look a bit out of proportion and I've also rationalized that the 16's with tires may be lighter, give a bit better ride (although the 17's are OK), be cheaper to reshoe when the time comes... generally a lot of bang for the buck. The stock wheels in white look sharp too, and would be a great bonus in addition to the R90's for winter (with blizzacks or some such) or racing swapouts (with racing rubber).

I may ulimately go with the stocks in white... but I am in 'MINI option selection Hell' right now. (not to mention color selection... yeeeesch, talk about indecisive)

Get the 17's they are a little different than the 16's for example the exposed bolts are not the same.

From experience:

Order the R90s with performance tires and the slites with all seasons, the MINI does great in the winter with goodyear all seasons.

Patrick Mini in Schaumburg, IL offered me a credit of $400 to trade in the stock MCS wheels (S LItes I think they are called) towards another set.
