R50/53 no photos?

no photos?
Am I the only one notice the precipitous drop in user posting with photos? I know Photobucket pulled a ransom and now most forum posts are littered with their ransom icons instead of the original photos some paid the service for. I never like them and never use them. I tried Flickr a little bit long ago and found it sux too.
Why aren't people using Google Drive, which is free? With Google Photos one can have unlimited photos and video as long as you keep them under reasonable sizes.
quote from Wikipedia:
"An unlimited amount of photos at maximum 16 megapixels and videos at maximum 1080p resolutions are stored for free using the "High quality" setting in Google Photos."

Hosting them elsewhere can result in broken links

Ugh! I have 1000's of photos in Photobucket, so I feel the pain. Since they pulled that BS I have started fresh with google photos and imgur.
My phone automatically saves photos to google, yes, but I prefer imgur for 3rd party hosting because I can do a little editing in there.
Also . . . !!! . . . there is a google Chrome extension that fixes the broken Photobucket links when you're browsing! It is called "photobucket embed fix".

I use Flickr and Instagram, mostly Flickr. If you can get past the somewhat user- unfriendly interface Flickr is oaky. It was better many years back, but now... meh...
The editing portion on Flickr was moderately useful and did an okay job. They have since changed it and now it is just not very good at all. I have Photoshop CC so, I don't use Flickr's editing software.
My stuff on Flickr - some good, a few ooooh... most meh at best.

photo work flow
I have developed a very efficient photo and video post processing workflow on my Win 7 PC (hate the damn dumbed down Mac UI). I always check, edit, crop if needed, and downsize my photos before uploading. Even with Google isn't going away anytime soon, nor will it pull a sabotage ransom like PhotoKickedTheBucket I always keep the originals local. Call me loco.
With Google I can group-select huge amount of photos and upload them all at once without fanfare. After that posting on NAM is a breeze.

a tool in my photo post processing workflow
I have a very time efficient photo post processing work flow, and one of my go-to tool is this excellent free Canon Digital Photo Professional. It makes grading, organizing, editing, and resizing photo incredibly fast and effortless. The power is the ability to process multiple photos in the few clicks of the mouse and keyboard hotkeys.
While it is free, you do have to enter the serial number of a supporting Canon camera to download it

are photos uploaded or linked
I have always been under the impression when I include photos in my posts by selecting URL of the image it is just linked. Tonight I spent a bit of time digging into this question and I am very surprised of what I found.
It appears no matter how you include photos, NAM always upload them. This is unlike many other forums, which discourage people uploading photos for storage reasons. If I just upload a photo from my Mac, it sucks up the whole thing without downsizing it. Shocking!
this one is 2000x1399 per the image URL
So what I can't understand, why so few bother to include photos? You don't need Photobucket, or PhotoKickedBucket.

I will try it later on Win 7. The problem with attachment is detachment from what you want to present or convey. Imbedded is much better.

insert image with win 7
Clicking the "Insert Image" icon isn't working for me. I can select an image in the popup but there's nothing to click which inserts the image in the post.
pop up of insert image, I then click Browse Your Device
I selected three photos in one shot
photo 1
photo 2
photo 3
I use Chrome but I doubt your problem is Firefox. It might be popup blocker or some thing similar.

Love that slant motor and FWD. Such a beautiful car and the interior design is very lovely too.
They can still be had for a bargain:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-lancia-fulvia-2/
Unlike the Alfa GTV of the same era which have skyrocketed to astronomical levels.
My dreamcar is a 1969 GTV 1750 in Giallo Ocra...
...but I'd take one repainted in Giallo Fly with no problem!

Unfortunately, due to lack of garage space, I sold the 2002tii in September 2002 about 2 months after taking delivery of my MCS. It was not easy to part with since it had been my only car for almost 30 years.
It was always the only one of its color (Taiga) at the 02 Fest Wests I attended ...
The current owner contacted me "out of the blue" about a year ago and sent me some pictures ...
Some things added ...
Ronal Kleeblatt Wheels
Headlight Wipers
Some things had been restored ...
Front Seat Uphosltery
Sunroof Seal
It still had the center console modification I made for a Blaupunkt CD-player and Fischer CD-box ...
I suspect the engine and transmission had also been rebuilt as these (along with the clutch) were still original when I sold the car, and based on the $20,000 he paid for the car. I purchased the car new for $5,500 and sold it for $10,500.

flickr experience
I have been browsing MartijnGizmo's excellent photos on Flickr. All I can say is I am glad I have ad-blocker shield up. What a crappy user experience.
There is advert on like every 5 photos I view, and I have little doubt Martinjn, being a professional photography and an excellent one, pays Flickr for photo hosting. I can understand if it is all free. Sorry. No linking to Flickr as I firmly opine that bad behaviour should not be rewarded.

Flickr ain't too bad methinks -- I find it to be okay as far as interface, but just now I had a problem trying to search R53 on there and had very slow load times,
what is the direct link to Martijn's page?
I use Imgur for hosting and I love it.
Although a ways back I did fall victim to the sludgebucket when I uploaded a ton of old Saab magazine scans.
The strange thing is that you can still view them all:
http://s189.photobucket.com/user/xer...art=all&page=1
But it cuts out the hotlinks:
http://www.swadeology.com/2007/09/th...ive-ever-seen/
It is a sad outrage that they did such the dirty deed as so many informative posts across a wide swathe of different forums now lack their original pictorial content.
I love the internet, but I also despise it --- it's the ultimate library, something like Borges talked about:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Library_of_Babel
but it's so temporal & impermanent unlike paperbound books. Much valuable info has been lost already due to platform changes/upgrades or whatever, with the ever-churning changes inevitable to rapid-paced technology. The wayback machine helps but it hasn't archived everything.
