What are these gauges?

Saw this picture today.

I'm wondering what the gauges are underneath the center console. All the aftermarket gauges I can find are mounted on the steering column. I'd like to fill up that empty space underneath the center console.

Wish I could put them hold. Once they are gone , they are gone. Nice Gen 1 old school factory gauges.

They really are sweet. So, in the instructions it says to replace the oil drain bolt with the oil temp. bolt included. Does that mean I'll never replace the drain plug again once it's installed?

Yes, you just change out the crush washer after each oil change. Or if the drain bolts get damaged for some reason , we have the sensor / plug listed.

I think I would rather have analog gauges for the speed. How fast do the ScanGauges update?

Do you remember how visible they were behind the shifter? I can't find many more shots of them. How about at night?

I had an MC40 as a loaner for a week and these gauges were standard in them. I could not see them very well.

The OEM gauges are Oil Temp and Voltmeter. Not much need for speed.
But you won't get oil temp from a scangauge.
Note that the drain plug temp sensor has all of three threads on it. After oil changes only by MINI and me, the threads on the pan stripped out. Still plenty of threads for a regular drain plug, but not the temp sensor. :/

Hmm. I've had a set of those gauges in since I bought the car new in 2004, and haven't had any trouble stripping the oil pan from the sensor plug. I like them a lot - good display of info that is useful, decently visible, with color/lighting to match the rest of the gauges.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I'll see if I can't pick up a set of these before they go NLA. Jeff, do you have any pics of the gauges? Would be nice to get some different angles and a night shot

You might want to look into (more useful) gauges that bracket the speedo.

You mean the tach? Yeah, I want to get some Marshall gauges for boost/vac and oil pressure but that kit is still like $600 from Cravenspeed.

Really good system is P3 cars if you want another option, and its digital / color matched, dash vent guage. They have a Boost Gauge and a VIDI Gauge.

VIDI Gauge , reads and clears codes also.

https://www.ecstuning.com/News/MINI_R50_R52_R53_Cooper_Convertible_Base_S_JCW_P3C ars_Vent_Integrated_Digital_Interface_2002_2003_20 04_2005_2006_2007_2008/

Connect with your car in an entirely new way. Why settle for just a boost gauge? Sporting features available in products 3x the price, the P3Cars Vent Integrated Digital Interface (VIDI) is the Swiss army knife of performance data, with design and integration that won't spoil the clean lines of your interior.
The P3Cars gauge is a state of the art digital data center that displays critical vehicle metrics like boost pressure , vacuum for N/A applications, coolant temp, intake air temp, oil temp, exhaust gas temp, speed, RPM , 0-60 timer, and battery voltage - as well as peak recall and run/record recall in all modes.
Simply put, P3Cars VIDI is the most popular, advanced gauge on the market.
This gauge installs inside the dash vent for easy installation while retaining smooth appearance and the heating and air conditioning feature, a perfect solution for MINI. VIDI = Vent Integrated Digital Interface .

- Fully Reversible Installation: Simply plug into your OBD-II port and you're functional. No splicing or rewiring required.
- Precise Color Match and OEM Integration: Seamless integration with interior lighting including auto or manual dimming to match dash brightness.
- Advanced Custom Programming: Designed and programmed specifically for each car and engine, so you can be sure all features will function as expected.
- Live Performance and Sensor Data: Real time “as it happens” data display of multiple parameters with virtually no lag or delay.
- Built In Acceleration Performance Timer: Automatic start and stop 0-60mph (0-100kph) timer for evaluating your car’s performance and driving skill.
- 3x Analog Inputs for High Precision Sensors: Universal 0-5v inputs for adding additional sensors or switching boost to an analog vacuum tap
- Diagnostic Data Interpretation & Reset: Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) to reduce trips to the dealership.
- Easiest Installation Possible: Put it in, plug it in, installation for even the most novice do-it-yourselfer. Mounts to the front right hand vent without blocking the vent.
- Integrated design into your MINI Cooper's interior, makes it feel at home between the vent and tachometer display.

Boost Gauge.

What readings are displayed on the VIDI gauge? Just wondering. Sorry if that's a dumb question.
