2006 Mini Cooper Base - Heater Blower Issue

Hello,

Hoping you guys can chime in on an issue with my mom's Mini.

2006 Mini Cooper base with climate control. Recently, the blower keeps shutting on and off intermittently and it seems that the blower fan is stuck on one speed. The video below will give you an idea of what is happening. I replaced the Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor but that did help. Same issue with new module.

I've spent lots of time googling but wasn't able to find a similar problem with a 2006 Mini. Not sure where to go from here but, as much as I don't want to, I may have to go to a dealer. I'm fairly confident in my repair abilities but this issue seems like it could take way too much time for me to diagnose.

Please help!

I ordered a new control unit from eBay ($40) and will give it a shot. Anyone have any idea on what this could be?

There is a diagnostic function you can run with the key on, by pushing two buttons (I think). There may also be a "reset to default" within that test. Try a Google search for it - something like "Mini Cooper heater function diagnostic test". I haven't needed or done the test, but those who have have had problems with their airflow direction (baffles, step motors, etc). I'm not sure if that diagnostic would also fix your problem, but it's worth a try.
