Dipstick Doesn't Want To Go In
Anyone else had issues with this? It takes 10-15 tries for me to get the dipstick to go in. Sometimes I am able to get it in all the way but when I go to pull it out its broken. What's odd is that it breaks in the exact same spot and I have busted 3 already. There's nothing in the dipstick tube from what I can see (without actually pulling the pan to double check). Any ideas?
I have tried both Mini OEM and local parts store sticks |
Time to Pony up and get the CravenSpeed dipstick.
From all the others you've purchased, you could have bought one already. The OEM dipstick is crap. |
I had the same issue, bought a brand new one broke in 5 checks. How the heck do I get it out now?

Yes, it's common. Good thread on NAM with some good info about Craven as well here.

1. Don't force it ..... the path it takes involves a couple of turns and it is easy for the stock part to "stick" ... since the shaft is plastic it is easy to bust it
2. If it catches, back off and try twisting 90 degrees .... because it IS plastic it tends to assume the required shape over time .... putting it in the way it WANTS to be in helps IME 3. DON'T FORCE IT .... never broke one in my 2 and I still work on a 3 and it has the original DS ...... cuz we don't force it! (now it will break the next oil change) |
