DSC confusion
I just bought a 2006 MCS and it has DSC. Is the button to turn it OFF, and therefore is the default ON? I'm confused because hitting the button turns the light on, so I thought that would me DSC is turned on.
Sorry for such a noob question, and thanks in advance. |
By Default it's on...So when the light is on that mean it's actually Off
|
So if you want to accelerate Hard with no boost dropping then turn IT off by turning on the light. I turn mine OFF most of the time unless it's wet outside.
|
Thanks, fellas.

One tip...
If you ever get a custom tune, the power reduction from a slip can be made less aggressive...so much so I never turned mine off after a RMW tune... |
I sometimes turn mine off when it snows. It works great to keep your tires from spinning in the snow, but also sometimes prevents you from gaining any speed when you might need it. You'll have to experement with it to see what you prefer.
Otherwise I just leave it on the rest of the year |

What's you reasoning for not using the DSC?
I too almost always turned DSC off on my old R53, except when the weather was bad. With my Gen2 R59S the DSC is much improved. I rarely find the need to turn it off. |
I just got my MINI on Saturday, so I'm all about learning, and will try sipping around with the DSC off over the next few days.

I generally leave mine off, especially in snow, I have a heavy foot, and nothing is better than having power cut when I don't want it. but yes, flick switch, light on = DSC off. the DSC on and spirited driving will also wear the back brakes faster than the fronts due to corrections
most of my daily driving, and the sticky tires I have I don't need it off since my summers have a hard time breaking loose in the warm and dry. but if I do see a really good ribbon, flick |
