Fuel Pump Noise

Yellow,

I know there are ALOT of post about this, but just wanted to see different opinions because I think my situation is a bit different.

Anyways, I just replaced my fuel pump and after a month or so, I noticed a constant electric sound. It sounds like a small motor that is spinning fast. It is coming from my fuel tank because I can hear it behind my rear wheel. I have no problems starting my car; it starts instantly. When I shut my engine off, the sound goes away right away. I don;t know if the brand is going to make a difference, but I got it from bavauto and the brand is VDO. Thank you guys!!

Is the sound overwhelming? Can you hear it when the engine is running?

When you turn the key to "on" (not start) you will hear the whirring sound of the pump. It is quiet, but there. After the engine starts (at least my 2 JCW's) you can't hear it anymore.

Its not overwhelming. While the car is on, it is about as loud if someone is in the backseat and whispering. I can hear it since I know its there, but if someone else would come in my car, they wont hear it until I tell them or is my radio is off. When I put the ignition on the on position, it makes a loud motor noise for like 1 second, then would go away.
