A/C Clutch Fell Off!

Today I discovered that my A/C outer clutch disc has fallen off and is laying on the road somewhere I assume. Compressor is 2 years old and out of warranty so no luck there. Has anyone ever had this happen and were you able to find a replacement disc? An online search turns up pretty much nil.

Check eBay. Someone posted recently they found the clutch assembly there.
Good luck...

Was it an BMW/MINI part or an Aftermarket other than OEM Compressor?

Motor on!

The whole a/c clutch assembly is on Ebay for $161. I can buy a rebuilt compressor with a new clutch for less. All I need is the outer disc and screw. I am just having a hard time swallowing buying another compressor to replace one little part and its screw.

Found the DIY - it gives the Delphi part number ( you should confirm it fits your year). Delphi 01650060/0

But, it looks like you would be better off buying a used compressor and switching the clutch over.

Remember there is a pretty big time/expense associated with recovering the refrigerant and refilling if you remove the compressor.

Sound advice. I think that's what I'll do.
