Good evening,

Tonight my wife's 03 R53 wiith 95k miles started having a squeaking sound. It sounds like a bearing. The sound stuck around for about 30 second and then just disappeared.

What could it be? Alternator bearing, sc bearing? Any idea?

Since its my wife's car, I wont be able to hear it everyday, so I want to get an opinion first so I know what to look out for. Thanks

 

I think you have a good idea of where to look. Anything the belt drives, alternator, AC, idler, tensioner, Crank pulley.

But the SC wouldn't only be at startup, it would be more constant.

I don't know any way of catching it short of getting right in front of it (hood open and listening right above it) when someone starts it. Even then the accessories are so close it will be hard to distinguish the sound.

Having the same problem with a belt squeal. New belt, tensioner from dealership.. It squeals for about 5min loudly then will quiet down but can still hear it
