R50/53 I finally have my MINI!
I finally have my MINI!
I finally got to pick up Penny this morning! After a long trolley ride, I picked her up from Flether Hills Towing in El Cajon, CA, where they were very nice.
She had a couple little scratches, which were noted and will be taken up with Autolog tomorrow, and was pretty dusty, but other than that it was awesome to finally see my own Mini after all these months!
Had a snafu with some idiots at the first smog test place I went to, who insisted that I could not bring a car into CA with under 7500 miles on it. "No, that only applies to used cars," I said, to no avail. Also have an over-anxious bonnet/boot warning light that says they are open when they most certainly are not.
After filling the tank (no first tank from Mini of the Hamptons! I guess I should treasure the cupholder!) I took her to another test place, right across the street from the DMV and had no problems at all. Spent an hour at the DMV, got inspected, got my plates and off we went.
So, first driving impressions? It rides like a brick! I can't wait to get used to it, and the handling trade-off is well worth it, but first impressions are first impressions. A PW/PW MC was behind me briefly on the freeway, but we got separated before I got to share my first Mini-owners wave.
Anyway, I've gone on long enough. I'll just say that it's great to finally be an official part of the club, and I look forward to many, many miles of motoring!

All in good time

I think black wheels would look great on it, and a CAI and a pulley would be nice, too. Right now, though, I need to concentrate more on mod-ing the balance in my savings account to get better performance out of it!
Any suggestions?!

bee1000N,
Welcome to the club and hope you can get through the break in period sanely. Just keep driving. Looks like you have some great options already with a few mods ready to install. Enjoy.
