R53 reliability?

Hey guys,

I'd never think that I would ever drive a mini, but for some reason, I'm really starting to like them. How reliable are these things with 100,000 miles? What is the biggest issue to look for? I apologize for not searching, I just wanted to make a thread

Mine has been great! Although results may vary.It has its maintenance issues, but not too bad. Supercharger seems to cause a lot of people to worry. I replaced my first one at 190,000 miles "just because". If you maintain them they do just fine. My 03 has 336,000 miles, and our 05 has just over 100,000, both on their original clutch, engine, transmission etc....

All depends how it was driven and matained before hand......
A neglected mini is a money pit.... Also a mini that has been abused is a $$$ pit....
But a good car is a good car....
If you have skimped on things like radiator flushes, oil changes....the piper will be paid...

My 2003 has been excellent in my opinion. I bought it used at 40K miles and I didn't have a single non-standard maintenance issue until 100K on the clock. At that point the clutch throwout bearing let loose and I had it and the clutch replaced. About 5K later the transmission spun a bearing and I decided to fix that myself. Was actually pretty easy.

Since then until now at 126K I've only had the parking brake cables give out.

Compare to any other vehicle I've owned, the Mini is top-notch in the reliability department. And nothing even comes close in the fun-to-drive category!
