R50/53 Chassis clunk/vibration after installing x brace?
Update on my findings after some clunks and noise during acceleration. Background, installed washers to mitigate against the clunks/rattle noise. In the last month, replaced all motor/trans mounts to OEM including the mid pipe exhaust hanger. Observed a 1/2 - 3/4" clearance gained. Reduced from 3 to 2 washers on the rear installation point. Technically, I could remove all washers but decided to leave only two. Overall, huge improvement to the vibration reduction by a factor of 10X. Clunks/noise is gone.
FYI - removed poly engine mount type bushings because of the additional vibrations it added. Also, installed a VIP custom NVH mount that is the best bang for the buck to enhance dampening.

Reviving this old thread because I'm facing the same problem. The catalytic converter hits and vibrates against the X-Brace under heavy throttle load. I'm thinking the flex pipe may have stretched when the upper engine mount failed.
@surfacenormal Quick question about what you refer to the "crap stock mounts". Were you referring to the middle exhaust runner mounts, like this one?
Thanks
