Looking for a nice used pair of Rear Brake Caliper cores for a rebuild project on my 2004 R53 MCS...if I am not mistaken the rear calipers are all the same on any of the R50/R52/R53 from 2004-2006....can anyone confirm?

I'd like a nice complete used set for rebuilding....casting and bore condition are my only concern, I'll be replacing all seals and rubber.

Maybe someone has an early take off set from when they upgraded to big brakes?

Thanks Patrick...great times at MOTD...search here is part of the brake upgrade I'm planning for the fall...figure I'll pick up an extra set to rebuild so that I can do a simple same day swap out.

Was going to change to R56 for the rears, but in the end I don't think there is enough functional difference on the rears between the R53 and R56 to justify the extra work dealing with the brake cable...so I'll just do a cosmetic update on rears (paint and decal) to match the fronts.

Anybody got a good spare set of rear R53 brake caliper cores?

 

I thought there were no differences on the rears; if I am mistaken, how are they different?

 

Think its the brake lines themselves, is the biggest change. They went from a banjo / eyelet setup connection to a straight connection on the rear in 4/2003. So you have pre 4/2003 and post 4/2003. That why there is a year split in the brake lines at 4/2003 also.

Thanks for the info on the pre vs post 4/03...I thought I had remembered something about a difference in the 1st gen rear calipers, but could not find the details.

I have a fully functioning set of rears I am willing to let go for cheap. I just did the r56s full upgrade on my car. PM if u are still looking for a set. I have the fronts too if you know anyone needing those, lol. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S btw
