Hatch won't latch
 

On my way home last night, the trunk lock/latch made some rapid-fire clicking sounds a couple times, spaced out by a couple of minutes. 4-8 clicks each time. Now, the hatch is stuck open and the interior light stays on when the hatch is "closed".

I can lift the hatch open freely without pressing the handle. When I close it, the latch mechanism does not engage to hold the door shut.

Anyone know of a solution for this?

Oh btw it's an '02 R50.

Water in the switch in the handle is the likely issue....

Looks like I may have it working again... The little white piece (the lock mechanism??) was stuck halfway between positions. Got it to work like it used to after resetting that piece.
