Stock guage question.

I have a R53 05 mini. With the single guage on steering column. I like the look of the factory dual guages. Will the duals plug into the same location and be functional.

It can be done; but may not be as simple as it sounds. You'll most likely need to have the gauges programmed by the dealer to have them work. Rumor has it that some dealerships don't even know how to do it.

Your key-word for researching this will be: retrofit chrono pack, or chrono guage retrofit r53 ..... something like that.

Depending on your goals, if you don't mind keeping the speedo in the center position on the dash, just add some other gauges to the Tach on the steering column. It would be a lot easier, you could add Boost and Voltage gauges which you won't get with the factory chrono pack.

Craven Speed has a nice set-up to give you a factory look. Craven Speed are good guys, members of my local MINI Club.

Also, again depending on your goals, a Scan Guage II might work for you. It doesn't look factory at all. A black rectangular box with LCD display, but will give you loads of information and I believe you can customize which info you want 'at a glance' including average miles per gallon (not sure if you have that already).

Hope that helps.

Here's a link to Craven Speed gauges: http://www.cravenspeed.com/gauges-gauge-mounts/

The Scan Guage II can be found at any Autozone.

If you're set on doing the Chrono Pack, and if your local dealer can't program it, it might be worth a call to Way Motor Works. I'm not positive, if he needs the car to be able to do it, or if you could just mail him your gauges and pay him to program it.
