Lug bolt head stripped

I started dating a chic a few months ago she has a 2003 R53. I've worked on cars most of my life. But I went to take the rim off and the one lug bolt head is stripped. I had a good grip on it with a nice 17mm socket and breaker bar but it won't break free. When I push to far it slips off. The hex on the head was rounded before I tried. It can't be driven she hit a pothole and bent the rim/popped the tire. The run flat is flat, air just goes right out where rim is bent.
Any suggestions on how to get the stripped lug bolt off?

A special socket is made with a reverse thread that can screw over the top of it to back it off.

Check with NAPA or Wal-Mart or any Auto Parts store of your choice.

Another method would be to use a hammer and chisel to drive the lug bolt around like this video shows...

^^^ that seems like a good idea, also get a good penetrating lube to help loosen it up. depending on how tight the last person put on the lugs they could be a pain.

i brought my car to a tire shop to get new snow tires mounted on the rims. they must have used an impact gun to put them on because when i change my wheels and tires yesterday (put my summers on). i snapped the 1/2" breaker bar i was using. and that is the reason why i hate hate hate bringing my car to any shop. i do everything my self.

did you get it off?

A few comments other missed

1) put the other lugs/studs back on TIGHT (recommended torque) ... NOW the bad lug is not holding the entire wheel .....

2) the 'special reverse socket' is an extractor . . .

3) I'd bet a chocolate donut the issue was not the impact wrench alone (cuz I use one in my garage all the time and do no damage) but . . . . the stud was cross threaded. And if THAT is the REAL issue you need to deal with the possibility of the threads being trashed in the hub.

4) WORST CASE .... the chisel method makes me quake! I'd weld a new stud/nut top onto the stud. But maybe I think of that because a have a welder in the garage . . .

SUMMARY .... I doubt is was 'too tight' from the air gun .... cross thread ASSISTED by an air gun????? Been there and got the t-shirt

My worst case example I was trying to get the right number on the tor' wrench and just kept driving a cross thread farther and farther . . .

I had a extractor set at work. I retightened the others with a torque wrench. It still won't budge. I was going to do the weld process, I done that before at last resort. Her dad had it towed this morning to a shop that repairs aluminum rim. So I haven't heard from anything. Bad as the roads are around here I suggested just order a set of tires with steel rims from TireRack.
