Davy's Black S's Thread!
Hi,
Some of you might have seen my for sale topics in the marketplace but I found it a right time to give myself a proper introduction right now for the new cars
I'm Davy, from Holland, 29 years old, an Intensive Care Nurse and quite a MINI-enthousiast as big as they can get.
For about three years I've owned a EB Mini with around 290 bhp from a Sprintex kit and various other parts on the engine.. It was a long project which I've learned a lot from and together with my dad Ive built all of this on my own - so no garages/help from others - other than the tune's which were done by 1320 in the United Kingdom
The car was parted out and sold around september last year and since then I've bought an BlackII JCW from 2006 with a lot of options such as Aero Pack, JCW spoiler (which is going to be switched for a Mini One spoiler soon), Chrono pack, DSC, Heated Leather Two-Tone Recaro's, 210 bhp JCW pack, Xenon's, R95, JCW Brakes and some more nice touches.
This is the car:
Previously when we bought it, it had R105's and sparco's in it - but I switched them for the GF and took the JCW wing off.
Since my GF didnt want this car to transform into a track car with a loud exhaust I've bought another car in Germany last year as well (more or like my christmas present.. )
I bought this car very cheap.. But it had some bad engine damage which I considered not of any issue as the engine was going to come apart anyway. Upon arrival it was worse than I thought as one of the pistons was collapsed in the cylinder..
This is my track-car-to-be
This was the piston in the cylinder..
And again it was a BlackII with almost all factory options.. Aero pack with JCW spoiler, 210 bhp JCW, JCW R53 brakes, JCW Suspension, R99's with winter tyres on, Sat-Nav, Leather. All in all a nice base car.
So, I started stripping the engine bay to take all of the parts out there and once the supercharger came off I stumbled upon this..
This engine is F*CKED! No more using this engine and it's on the hunt for another example..
In the meantime the exhaust manifold and the first engine parts came in
This is the MINIgarage exhaust manifold, which looks a lot like the RMW stepped race manifold but the collector is 63 mm to mate it up ideally with my Milltek exhaust system
All ARP bolts for the vital engine parts!
I have the whole interior of the car stripped down, and the engine bay is empty now as you guys can see on the pictures;
I also bought an engine from a guy in Belgium which suffered some smaller damage.
This engine had a shattered piston #3 due to a broken spark plug, and the pulley of the charger wasnt tightened on so it also had a melted piston on #4
The cylinders themself however looked ok, no big damage so a bore & hone are enough to get the engine running again with some nice pistons.
I bought Wiseco 8,5:1 pistons in 77,5 mm and the engine will be going to the machine shop soon enough when I receive my other parts.
Since I want to do this right the first time, I bought H-Beam rods from RMW as well, together with Mahle F1 bearings.
The crank will be balanced together with the ATI pulley, TTV single mass flywheel and Helix pressure group and all pistons/rods/bearings apart from each other as well
I ordered quite the shopping list with Orranje last week so that will on the way soon enough
- Safety Devices Rear Cage in Red
- Orranje G-Wing
- OBX ATB Differential
- Nitrac 8 groove Front and Rear Discs for R53JCW brakes
- Carbotech XP8 Brakepads for R53 JCW brakes
- HEL braided brake lines for R53 JCW brakes front and rear, transparent red
- Milltek Backbox
- 2 sets of Hardrace Control arms
- Orranje Brake Ducts front and rear
- Whiteline Castor bushes
- Powerflex Purple Rear Trailing arm bushes
- Powerflex Black Lower Engine Mount Small
- Powerflex Black Lower Engine Mount Large
- Powerflex Black Gearbox mount
- KAVS 17% SC Pulley
- KAVS 63 mm Throttle Body
- KAVS BPV Spacer
- Orranje Stealth Cold Air Intake
- Airtec Intercooler Black
- Vibratechnics Engine Damper Race
- R56 Trailing Arm Conical Arm Washers
- Airtec Radiator Black
- KAVS Alternator Pulley 5%
- OMP WRC Suede steering wheel and boss
I also ordered a set of Cobra Evo R coilover with camberplates so the suspension front is about done now, as I have a set of R56 Trailing arms in the basement as well.
The coilovers have a 10-click adjustable rebound-damping, separate oil/air compartments and floating pistons. It's the top of the line coilover set from Cobra, and looks very much like a set a set of JRZ coils. The setup of the suspension will also be done by one of their guys to make the most out of it. A set of Whiteline Rear end links, and a 22 mm rear sway bar were already bought, so they can get on the car once the coils come in.
Thumper will be receiveing my cylinderhead and intake manifold as well, and I will be receiving a nice and shiny Thumper TPR2R head and ported intake when he's done with that as well.
This engine will be awesome once completed I'm hoping for!
I'm waiting for the package from the States now with the pistons, rods, bearings, Oil pressure and temp gauge and some more small goods and a lot of other parts to start building this beast back up, but I can still do a lot of work on the car itsself. Keep you guys posted!

I havent taken the engine apart yet, but it looks to me as if it has had a problem with a driveshaft. Maybe a shift to 3 instead of 5 on the highway so a big overrev and a broken rod? God knows. It doesnt matter anyhow as I have a block ready for boring and honing, its waiting on some parts to arrive as the rods, bearings, pistons and a shopping list at the dealers from around 1250 bucks of gaskets, O rings and small stuff have to arrive to have a completely fresh engine before the machine shop can work their magic.
And yes, My GF really hates a loud exhaust.. So thats why I bought a second JCW to do my tricks with as I do like loud exhausts
A good example on how my "old" blue car sounded..
