R50/53 The Resurrection of Isobell (Rat Rod Project)

C ya,
Dutch
Well the arches are going to stay the standard black plastic... Over top of the rust, the faded color, and the chalk powders, its going to have a very thin coat of decent paint... Like somebody once tried to bring her back from the dead!
The last color of rust just went on... 10 minutes ago...
Splattered it on hard! Lots of pearl... Darker and more crustastic!
Pics will come in a follow up post...
Tomorrow, back to primer, then a thin coat of Pure silver base... Then the sanding and feathering begins again.

The R56 still has a third brake light in the hatch above the rear glass... Mine is gone, pain in the rear to do too.
Knocked the spray dust off, covered it in primer, Pure Silver base coat going on soon...
Here are some crappy celliphone pics... Also taking real pics with the camera to edit... Those might make it up later today.

Edited pic's as promised...

After the primer went over the rust, I could really dramatize the lumps of rust color.

Then the silver went on the roof...

And the Silk Green went on the dash panels...

At the end of the day, the fun began... Knocking all that pretty new paint down to reveal this... Its not the final look, but it's getting close.

Here's a close up...

Look at all that flake sparkle!

you have like a plate on there, its the same plate the minis without spoilers have
I shoot it right there in the garage. Never had a problem with doing it that way.
The roof is ready for its next steps, and most of the dash panels are almost ready for their final clear (With a flattening agent so they come out with a matte finish).
Pics will be up after editing... Not very good ones where taken today, I was too busy with the sandpaper.

Editing done... Here they come!

I think I removed just enough of the PS base, there is A LOT of primer showing that really doesn't show up in the pic's. (That's what you get when your primer and color base are almost the same color and shade.)
There are really tiny speckles of rust color everywhere in the roof, a lot of them aren't showing doe to the dryness of the paint and the lighting. The front third of the roof is HEAVY on rust spots! that is naturally the biggest part of the car that takes the most abuse, and I like realism!
Here's a couple more close ups...

And lastly, the dash. Still have one panel to do, but the first two look great! Having color gives the contrast a better appeal.

And a close up... Notice the color range from the rust (Flake, pearl, 3 shades of base)... Then the contrast of the primer and Silk Green base...
All I have to say about it is... Silk Green ages gracefully!

That's it for today...

Hurtin' my feelings, man.
Funny that I never realized the third brake light location differs between the R56 and R53 'til now...

I gave up. Something on the roof of an R53 that's not on the R56?
