Ambient Air Temperature Sensor

When I switch my tach to check the air temperature it gives me a reading of -40. I checked under my bumper and I found where the sensor once was but it is long gone, all is left is the clip and the wires... I bought air temperature sensor kit (wires, clip, and sensor). Was wondering if any body has any hints, tips, experience with replacing this sensor... I have the Bentley Service Manual for my 03' Mini but I could not find a single thing about this sensor. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Mike

What kind of hints are you looking for? It should be a plug and play. Is the connector gone and just bare wires?

Buy a new one...plug it in...
If the plug is gone...just solder in the new one, then use shrink wrap to seal the splice. The secure it in place....no bracket...sounds like a ziptie would work!! Not sure what kind of info you are looking for...hints? Lol.

If the clip that the sensor connects to is still intact, just remove the bumper, plug it in and clip it into the bumper.
