R50/53 Foglight lens replacement
OK, I have a problem and a question. I have searched and haven't found anything on this. Let's just say, I am now a big fan of headlight/foglight protection on the MINI.
My foglight lens is smashed, its totally gone. All I have now is a reflector with a bulb in it. Actually, still works, just isn't pretty. I WANT IT TO BE PRETTY!!!
Is this something I can do myself, should I order the part from classic, or should I swing by Home Depot and look for some plexi-glass.
Any ideas?

I had a similar thing happen to my MINI foglights. In my case both lenses were cracked.
MINI doesn't sell just the lenses, but instead makes you buy the entire foglight assembly. There is a Left and a Right assembly. Also, the wiring harness changed up a bit so some model require an additional little parts kit to hook up the new assembly (my 2002 required this).
Give the Classic MINI Parts Department a call and they'll get you squared away. Be sure to mention North American Motoring and you'll get a discount. That's how I purchased my foglight parts. Even with shipping it was about $40 cheaper than what my local dealer wanted.
BTW, to get at the foglights you're going to need to undo the wheel well liner to get access to the three screws that hold the foglight in place. I also found it helpful to remove the bumpercover, but that's not necessary.
Your MINI will be pretty again!

I suppose you could get clear plastic and try to place that over the front of the foglight, after removing any of the remaining glass lens. To do that you'll need to remove the bumpercover. Mind you I'm not sure how you'd attach the clear plastic to the foglight housing.
It's just the bumper cover, not the bumper. There are a series of screws around the perimeter of the bumpercover.
I believe there is a fog light how-to floating around here that details the process.

Anyone know what happened to Sean Bartnik's Bumpercover Removal How-to? His site doesn't appear to be active any longer. Is it hosted somewhere else?
