RIP my 03

After 10 years and 130,000 miles of happy motoring in my 03 Cooper, an idiot finally got me. Rear ended on the 91 fwy (So Cal).....totaled. Smashed into me when traffic suddenly stopped. I was devastated.....this was my baby...was never going to give her up. I loved the early body style and interior. Sent me into a depression for the following days. Didn't know what I was going to replace it with. Couldn't get another 1st gen, just didn't know what was going to start going wrong once I purch'd one. I had just replaced the trans, clutch, fuel pump, power steering pump, etc. There was no other car that I could consider buying though. My only choice was to buy a newer one, used, but if I was going to do that, it had to be an S. So after searching on CraigsList, Cars.com, AutoTrader, CarGuru for days (and nights)...and driving around, checking out cars that looked perfect in picture, then getting there to find them all dings & scratches......frustration was setting in. My insurance covered rental car had just run out on Monday.....FINALLY, Tuesday, fate stepped in. A local post on CraigsList, just 5 mins from my work....an 2010 S, only 14k miles! Went there...perfect condition! Hardly used, not a scratch. SOLD! I feel whole again.

Ouch.. so sorry to see that happen, and good to see you walked away okay! How fast do you think they were going when they hit you?

Congrats on your new MINI, I wish I had done the same when I lost mine.

Ugh! That would be my nightmare. Glad to see you found something you like. I would also find it very hard to find something to replace my ~10 year old MINI.

[QUOTE How fast do you think they were going when they hit you

Thanks for the well wishes, all. He was going pretty fast. Hard to say, but the collision wiped out the front of his civic. It would have been worse if I didn't see him coming and try to get out of the way.
