R50/53 How do I find out what the name of the boat is?
Our car has been placed "on the boat." If another ship goes down full of cars because of an iceberg, asteroids, etc., it'd be nice to know the carrier's name...
AND - do carrier's have locators on-line for real time tracking?

Probably a bit late, as you could be alreay in, but I posted this back in 2002:
You can go to http://www.oceanweather.com and track it from there. Go to Current Marine Data in the bottom right. Click on where you think your ship is, and track it with the Marine Observations view. AIDA appears by it's call sign SCFI.
If you don't see it, check back in a few hours.

He has four kids and says this is the first time he's ever been able to order a car he really really likes -- so he's anxiously awaiting (and I'm apparently his NAM proxy)!

You can find most call signs here
Not every ship is tracked. Just those that report weather...etc.

My MINI made the trip across the pond on the Aida too. It's call sign is SCFI and the TAKASAGO is LACR5.
I checked the tracking every 6 hours and it sure seemed slow, but the ship arrived on time and because my MINI was one of the last on - it was one of the first off.
Here's the data link for just off the US / NY coast. The data is only from ships that report their wx data so your ship may or may not be listed.

I had a picture of the Aida (it's green and white) and I would have loved to fly over the port to actually see the ship. But sadly, you can't fly a private plane over that area any more.
Just know that your MINI will soon be at your dealers delivery area.....but not soon enough!
Also, the ship didn't stay in port very long. It docked, the cars were unloaded, and the ship left port. Very organized and very efficent.

Hey, I just checked the "Owner's Lounge." Our MCS isn't shown as at the distribution center yet according to the Mini site, but I booted up the distribution site video while in "Where's Your Baby?", it's actually pretty good!
