Moneypenny the BRG/MCS came home today! While I as reacquainting myself with the joys of driving a stick after 11 years of automatics, I inadvertantly pulled the shift knob off. I didn't think I yanked it that hard. It went back on and snapped into place but I can easily pull it right back off without too much effort. I guess she's trying to tell me to be gentle on her gearbox...
Also, while reading the manual (which is something I always do before ignoring everything in it) - I was left with the impression that the onboard computer would tell ME when maintenance would be required based on both mileage and driving style. I think I'm just required to pay attention when one of the light-up doo-dads blinks yellow and whistles "Sweet Georgia Brown" in B flat. I could be wrong. Anyway - if the car is going to be telling me what to do, maybe I'll rename her Christine. |
I've had the loose shift knob issue as well, although I may have played more of a role in loosening it than you have. My shift knob was fine until I took it off to put on an aftermarket leather shift boot. Ever since, it pops off inadvertently at the most disconcerting times (e.g., while downshifting coming out of a corner). Then I have to forcefully smack it back on. I have to consciously think about making any kind of upward pulling motion while driving or it may pop off. A minor annoyance, but still an annoyance.

My MCS is being built this week!
