Took Delivery 8/31/02. I have a little over 38k. Would be more except that the car has spent a total of 6 weeks (and counting) waiting for parts and/or dealership inspired repairs... Currently going through withdrawls waiting for a shift linkage cable

I've had my S for 17 months - 33,000 miles.

Except for initial plastic water tank problems, no significant issues.
She does get driven spiritedly. The original 17" runflats went 31K, computer says mostly 30.5 MPG

One of our old timer Cooper owners made his 2nd year anniversary with 18,000 miles and I drove about 11,500 miles so far in 13 months in my MCS.

We live on an island 40 miles wide so unless we drive from shore to shore we usually get in about 10,000 a year.
But we do have heavy commuting MINIs that in their first year racked up 25,000+ miles.

20 months old: almost 33K fun filled miles

I have had several warranty issues-
one being an airbag light that likes to come on- 5 times so far.

we extended service to 50k, just hoping to avoid paying for maintainence until the car is paid off, which is in June of next year. after that, I'll probably bank the payment amount and make some interest until something major comes up.

Haha, I feel so much better now. I plan to get the extended warranty... (good news is my "cold weather proof" tranny now only has 4,000 miles.... gotta love it).

Happy motoring!

53 weeks; 21,500+ miles; countless smiles = PermaGrin!!

I plan to get the extended warranty...
There is NO extended warranty from MINI. You may be able to find one from a third party. MINI does offer an extended SERVICE PLAN which adds another 12, 000 miles or 12 months bringing your service plan up to 48,000 miles or 4 years. It generally costs about $695. It covers service only, bumper to bumper - basically everything except tires. But it's not a warranty... It's mighty expensive for oil changes and a possible break job (which would still use the icky black-dust-from-hell pads!).

53K since 4/16/02 - after the Dragon Run should be at just about 61K.

WOW

I was feeling sort of sad the other day thinking that my new MINI was getting old.
3 months... 7k miles.

That's the main reason why I am getting another one... to supplement the mileage

>>1 year 3 months. 25,000k on her. I have too much fun driving to even care about miles. That's what I bought it for, to drive it. I learned this from my dad. He's a driver too, and on the forum he frequents, guys boast and brag about only having 400 miles on their car. My dad counters with "I get more enjoyment out of my car in a day than you guys get in years." It's a Corvette forum. I still can't ever see myself buying a car and not driving it.

I agree with Craig! BTW I still don't have my MINI so I can't brag about how many miles I've racked up yet! But if images of me in the MINI zooming around in my head count....well...

Seriously, there is nothing sadder than a sweet car with low miles -- so big deal, IF you had to sell it you'd get a few more thousand out of it. I'm from the "it's your car, enjoy the toy" school.

nice to see a thread like this, finally.
i drive a 2003 MC, not rally, not autocross, and love it. repeat: love it. i know the Mini has its idosyncricies, unresolved chronic difficulties, whatnot. bottom line: whatelse is out there that can give you what the Mini can give for the price of admission? think. nothing. i would hope that no-one who invested in this car thought they were buying a Toyota, or Honda or whatever. this is a car, which, within it's price contraints, pushes the envelope. hassles arise as they must. think about it. people biltch because they compare the new Mini to the sort of cars with which it invites comparison, which cost a great deal more. also, i think that on this forum one gets a somewhat skewed perspective, simply because most people who post here, as well as most who would choose to buy a Mini as opposed to a---you fill it in---are into the car and the driving experience, and all faullts are scrrutinized to death. it's a car. things will go wrong. but i'm sitting here with a now-one-year-old MC which has not given me a moment's trouble (save the eternal windscreen and a boot latch which had to be replaced) scheming on how to get an MCS. i used to fantisize about Porches, BMW's, big Jag's; no more. this is where i am in terms of cars. life is big; if you can get some indescribable something from a fairly reasonably prices piece of hardware, that's a good thing. it's not the only thing.

cheers,

paddy

9 months so far, about 13500, and loving it. Took a trip to Canada's side of the Niagara Falls for Valentines day...awesome! Several trips up to Wisonsin. I need to start working part time so I can motor more...lol. Take into account that I didnt have the car for a month and a half, and I was motoring sparingly for another month and a half so as to avoid any more traffic violations before I went to court for my speeding ticket. Taking those things into account, and the fact that I live about six miles from my full time job, and I think its pretty appart that I like to motor for no other reason other than the love of motoring...and good tunes of course!

Like ZAKdog, I'm at the other end of the spectrum. I'm at just over 8000 miles in 17 months. What's wrong with me?! My MA kids me about how my MINI lives most days and nights in a $300/month garage.

I need get me (and Ringo) out more!

OmToast, you should get one of those US maps with states that you color in if you've been there like they have on the back of RV's!
