I took a buddy and went for a drive on the back roads to starved Rock park in Illinois. This was the first time I could show him what the car was capable of. The curves are a blast in that area.

There's no substitute for driving our MINI's. Some use NAM to discuss problems... and to discover solutions. Some use NAM to add to the experience of ownership. For the most part, I select the threads that sound fun. And the threads that I start are usually just for fun too. If you're seeing too many complaint threads, then author a more positive one... like this one where drivers have started to share positive driving experiences. NAM is what we make of it. Godspeed.

I've frequented the MacAddict Forums for several years now. What I've found is that most people don't come to forums to talk about how great their stuff is, they do, but its pretty infrequent. With the MAF you usually find people coming on and complaining about some problem with thier computer, if you were just to read the forum dedicated to powerbooks, you would think that 90% of all powerbooks have major problems, and all Apple jokes aside, thats just not the case.

The same type of thing goes for this forum, though I have noticed a lot of very positive comments mixed in with negative ones about yo-yo and stumble and other things. So you've got 100 people who bought MINIs, and say 5 of them have some type of problem with them, you'd see 4 of those 5 come here or to another forum to complain about the problem, and maybe only 3 of the 95 come here to tell everyone how much they love their cars. I'm sure the numbers are way off, but it boils down to people being more likely to actively complain than actively speak well of their cars. Just my 2 cents.

Well count me as still GRINNING since the end of July 03. Tomorrow I get to drive it again and for that I feel special. Yeah it's just a car but I'm easy to amuse.

Me too. It's been very windy around here over the last
week. Branches all over the road to zip around-- That
amuses me very much! "More wind please!"

Godspeed.

lot15, thanks for starting this post As someone who hasn't actually placed an order yet the negative comments can get me down, too. However, unlike you, I can't jump in the MINI and ride the bad vibes away.

That said, even seeing a MINI on the road cheers me up -- so again thanks for starting this thread. It's great to hear you guys talking about the positives!

MINI_dreamer,

You'll love your MINI. Only one thing in your specs I would change........and it's what most of us have the most trouble with......color. To me a MINI needs to be a brighter more visible color than silver or gray. I favor red, electric blue, liquid yellow or maybe pepper white. But hey, that's just me. Hope you get your order in soon, sometimes the wait can seem like forever.

I spent a couple of hours cleaning the UNDERSIDE of the Mini today, making two tire racks out of 2x4 (sorry Mr. Sponsor) and leaving my engine compartment spotless.......I enjoyed my MINI today and ITS UP ON BLOCKS!! I also put the tips off of my stock exhaust on my Probe......they fit AND look cool....they also look like they would fit the Audi....madam tresurer told me to go pound salt..."I like it JUST fine the way it is" said she..... (she hasn't quite gotten over the fact that I put the sucker in a ditch a few weeks back......)

MINI_Dreamer,

I feel your pain. I waited 7 months for mine, and now, I amin Philly, and the baby is staying with my futer in-laws in Va Beach. I can't afford Philly insurance and fender-dings. I'm in school here for another year, and we have a beater Hyundai and an old Honda VFR for the duration. I get to visit once every few months. Ah well, My future father-in-law is a gearhead, so at least my caris well taken care of and gets to go have some fun from time to time. It even has a garage to sleep in!

Nothing makes me appreciate the MINI more than driving a 93 Hyundai.

For me, anytime I drive a rental car and then return to my MCS to drive home from the airport it is
easy to tell why I drive a MINI.

Sure there can be problems. And there can also be some MINIs that are just plain trouble free.
It's fine to have problems as long as we can find some solutions and share our experiences.

Motor On.
